Guest guest
If I don't want to use the starter with the sucrose in it, and I want something other than what I've been using which is GiProHealth's brand, and I need it to be casein-free, what are my options? I just want to vary my probiotic strains. Thanks, Jenn & K l_sprosty wrote: Can anyone give me advice as to where to order yogurt starter. I had ordered yogourmet freeze-dried and one of the ingredients is sucrose. That can't be legal!!! I prefer to use a starter over the Dannon plain yogurt, just think it's easier to have on hand. --------------------------------- Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let Yahoo! Guest guest
Yogourmet yogurt starter is legal..... even with the tidge of sucrose. As it was explained to us years ago by Elaine herself, the bacteria eat it all up during the fermentation process. The tiniest bits of stuff in something can bother me yet after seven years, I occasionally have something with a bit of sugar and am OK. I never before tried Elaine's instructions for making yogurt on her beginner's link using the heating pad version but couldn't get high enough heat from the pad, so popped it in the oven with a l60 watt light bulb as I always did. Using Elaine's instructions to cool in ice water really shortened the prep time. Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
