Guest guest
, I know how you feel about the feeding tube. I had one also and I hated it. I had to have it for a month. I had my TP/ICT on Sept. 24, 2004 and it was the best thing that I have done. I feel absolutely great now. I am off all narcotics and got my life back. I waited 2 1/2 years since my diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis to have it done. I wish I would have done it sooner. I only received 105,000 islet cells so I am type 1 diabetic. I had tried everything else and the TP/ICT was my only hope. It worked for me. Not too many places offer this service though. I had mine done by Dr. Sutherland at Fairview Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He was absolutely excellent! Darren
Guest guest
Oh my! I have never heard of having to have feedings all day like that! How horrible that must be. Can you go anywhere or do anything? I am so sorry! Why did you have to have that done if you don't mind my asking? Did they remove your pancreas? My prayers are with you! Hang in there! Guest guest
, just an fyi, you asked why many of us haven't had the TP/ICT. I personally haven't had it because I don't qualify for the surgery because I am already diabetic, so there are no islet cells left to retransplant into me. If I had a total pancreatectomy I would need a full pancreas transplant and that means taking immunosuppressive drugs, which I really don't want to do and probably wouldn't be able to afford once I go on medicare in about 5 months from now. I'm sure there are a number of us who have similar situations as mine. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
