Guest guest
Kim, Don't you just love incompetent people! I think they need to wear a sign warning people so you know what's coming! I have had the same problems with my gastro docs office. He is wonderful but his staff stinks! Good luck! At least you have Dr. Cotton on your side! Guest guest
Kim, Doesn't this just infuriate you? My GI was just as bad, if not worse. During one of my annual EGDs, he found that I had thousands of polyps and he thought I would need my stomach removed in case these polyps turned cancerous on my. He told me I definitely needed a second opinion because he wasn't sure if this was to be my only choice. He told me he would find a doctor to refer me to within the next week. I waited for 2 weeks, and then when I managed to contact his office (I'm sure they keep their phones off the hook because they are always busy), they told me they had no notes about contacting any other doctors regarding me. I then went online to find a genetic counsellor who dealt with hereditary precancer conditions and explained my situation to her. She organized an appointment for me with a GI there who had devoted his life's career to researching my illness, and ended up looking after me for the polyps as well as my pancreatitis. I got to keep my stomach thank goodness, and someone finally fixed my pancreatitis for now, but it wasn't this GI. He then had the nerve to threaten to fire me because I saught another doctor's treatment over his.....it didn't matter when I told him this was the SECOND opinion he told me I needed and that his office' constant cancellation of my office visits were unacceptable and forced me to seek treatment elsewhere. That wasn't his problem though because it wasn't him in hospital every few days with high A & L levels and breathtaking pain and nausea. I'd be looking for another doctor to treat you. Perhaps ask Dr Cotton if he could recommend someone for you.
