Guest guest
Hi everyone. My family has been doing SCD for 4 weeks now with good results. I was perusing the newly improved PecanBread site today and found out that I wasn't supposed to introduce peanutbutter for three months or so because it's a legume - whoops. And apparently I shouldn't have been so quick to give fresh fruits to my kids. We did do the intro diet for 2 days - no D issues so we proceeded onward. I've realized that 2 of my 4 kids have occassional symptoms, so I'll pull back on the stuff I'm allowing them. Do I need to pull back on the other 2 who aren't having any issues? And since we're apparently only supposed to be eating cooked fruits and veggies - what do I put in my kids lunches? They are constantly hungry and I'm at a loss of what to feed them. Help? I like to roll things up in cheese slices like prsciutto or roast beef. I also like hard boiled or devilled eggs. cold cooked vegetables with a dip made of DCCC or dripped yogurt. You can use nut butters sooner than peanut butter. > FRUIT LEATHER from ZOOM, PBS Kids 1 cup chopped fruit, like strawberries, blueberries or raspberries 2 TBL honey cookie sheet with a lip plastic wrap blender spoon or plastic spatula 1.Preheat the oven to 140 degrees or lower. 2. Then, take the plastic wrap and cover the top of the cookie sheet. 3. Put the chopped fruit and two tablespoons honey in the blender. Make sure that the top is secure on the blender. 4. Blend for ten seconds or until it's smooth. 5. Pour the fruit onto the cookie sheet and smooth it out with a spoon or spatula. Make sure that you spread it evenly. 6. Put the tray in the oven and cook for three hours or until the fruit is dry. 7. Remember that it takes a long time for the fruit to cook in the oven. It won't save time if you turn up the heat. You'll just burn the fruit. 8. Once the fruit is dry, take it out of the oven and set it aside to cool. 9. When it is cool, just roll it up and it's ready to eat. Carol F. Guest guest
We are new to this also and the first days and school lunches are hard. Put Chicken Soup in a thermos, applesauce, and pearsauce works great, cooked carrotts(even cold they are sweet if you use the baby ones), 1/2 baked apple sprinkled with cinnamon. Bananas and cheese are great as well! Good Luck! <<excess of repeated original post trimmed by moderator>>

Guest guest
Can someone tell me what exactly a flare looks like? Since we started the diet, my daughter has had solid stools with almost every BM. Every couple weeks, she will have a few soft stools in one day. I didn't even think about strawberry seeds and she seems to be tolerating it okay. I agree that she is almost always hungry - especially after school. A lot of the suggestions were fruit-based. I thought we were supposed to limit fruit intake since it contained so much natural sugar. Packing Chloe's lunch two times per week is the hardest part of the diet. One suggestion - yogurt with almond butter, dry curd cottage cheese, applesauce, banana, and sometimes I even sneak in sliced ham or turkey. I then press " liquefy " , if she doesn't like it, I add a tiny bit of honey. She almost always takes one of these in her lunch with other things because I khow she will drink it. Another thing we have done is made extra banana/egg pancakes or legal waffles and send those. The school heats them up and she gobbles them down.
