Guest guest
Jenn, I don't have any wonderful suggestion for getting rid of the sinus infection, but I do need to make sure you realise that Ambrotose is not SCD legal. I have had major trouble with sinus infections in the past, too.... and have found nasal irrigation with a neti pot to be tremendously helpful, but I see you're doing that already. I don't see any vitamin A in your list of supps? I always need to resort to very high doses of A when I have a sinus infection..... just for a couple of weeks. Do you give her any CLO? Or any other form of vitamin A? Patti sick for 1 month staight, need some advice.... Kali has had a cold for a month now and it seems to be in the form of a sinus infection at the present time. She used to get these all the time. Over 40 with ear infections too. I don't want it to get to her ears this time so we're using mullein & garlic oil and a bit of lavender oil. That isn't helping her sinus infection though. She's on the goat yogurt, acidophilus, zinc, stinging nettle, krill oil, sinus rinses, ambrotose, folinic acid, DMG, coconut oil, OLE, magnesium, & ester c. I ordered some copper & minerals. nd she is dong a fantastic job on SCD. We had to back up to eggs & chicken, bone broths ect. for a short time hoping to gve her a rest to heal. We have been using a humidfier and letting her rest in the tub while being misted on. I have also resorted to molecular silver this week but, it didn't help her at all. Her ped. wants her on an antibiotic. Is there anything else we can do for her? I really hate medicine. She has been eating garlic daily as well. I can see her getting worse and NOT better everyday. Out of $ for the time being too. Will lemon help change her ph a bit to help balance her back out? I have been using ginger too. It seems like I'm running out of options here. Since my pc crashed, I have to share with hubby and he's a pc hog:) Jenn & Kali SCD 19 months __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Patti, There is 50 IU Vitamin A in the krill oil and sometimes I do give CLO instead alternating. How much Vit. A can she have per day? I just started the Ambrotose with her 3 days ago. If she has noted IMPROVEMENT, I will continue. I didn't realize to check for the legality of it. She is although, showing me that she can figure out VERY complex tasks lately which is unusual for her. We did another nasal rinse last night. She sneezed. Out came the greenest, longest, nastiest yuck I had ever seen. About a half of an arm's length. It was unbelievable. Sorry for the graphics but, she has had a very good day. She has never thrown off a sinus infection on her own before! I have always resorted to antibiotics in the past. She hasn't had a bad sinus infection like this one in a couple of years. I also added some Vit. E today even though she was getting some of that from the krill oil too. Thanks for offering advice and help. Have a nice New Years! Guest guest
I give my daughter a minimum of 5,000 ius of Vitamin A every day.... but if she's sick, I increase that to 10 or 15,000. I use mainly Green Pasture's CLO these days for A & D. We are doing the Vitamin K protocol, which calls for quite a bit of A. I know some of the kids take considerably more than my daughter does. I hope she continues to get better. Patti Re: sick for 1 month staight, need some advice.... Patti, There is 50 IU Vitamin A in the krill oil and sometimes I do give CLO instead alternating. Guest guest
Patti, She woke up with a little bit of a runny nose but, no other symptoms. I can't wait for her to reach mainstreaming. I will actually be homeschooling her when she is ready for that step. It has been so nice to space out her supp. doses perfectly and just making sure she's not getting any bad foods has been relieving this past month. I hate sending her to school with all those bugs going around. I didn't realize Vit. A could be dosed so high. Do you know how much E, EPA, DHA, 3,6, & 9's would be the highest dose for those? I also have the dual seleniums, lithium, & manganese that I need to learn the dosing & other particulars about. I haven't started them yet because of K being so sick lately. What foods can give high amt.'s of B vit.? I don't have those in there yet either. We put minerals in her water. Can you help us figure out when would be the best time & what to start first if anything right now. Thanks for being so helpful. Guest guest
Jenn, I don't know the answers to most of your questions. I don't know if there is an upper limit on the essential fatty acids. I am not aware of toxicity issues on those. I know it is important to have the Omega's all in the proper balance and proportion. Anything about fats and fatty acids, I would probably refer you to Udo Erasmus's book, Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill. I don't own a copy, though.... have only borrowed it from the library. Or, you'd have to consult with a naturopath.... or a nutritionist.... or perhaps there is a reference out there online somewhere with recommendations on those. I assume our kids are generally pretty deficient in the EFAs so might need more than the " average " person.... at least for a while. I don't know much about vitamin E.... we are not using it right now. I am considering adding about 200 ius for Katera (she is 10 yrs old, 77 lbs).... but no more than that because we are doing the vitamin K protocol and there is some problem with high levels of E interferring with that. I don't know anything at all about dosing on selenium, lithium or manganese.... sorry. Levin might have some info... here's a snip from a post he sent some time ago: <<http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 scroll down on the 'minerals i take' web page until you see SELENIUM PROTOCOL>> And this is the link to his list: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/who_knows/ I supplement all the B vitamins for my daughter... in a basic SCD-legal B-complex. I honestly don't know if you can get enough from SCD legal foods. I'm sorry, I'm just not well-versed enough to know which foods have which B's. I would have to refer to a nutrition table.... but that's something you can do just as easily. I know a lot about how to do the SCD diet.... but I'm not a vitamin supplement expert, so I won't pretend to be. Patti Re: sick for 1 month staight, need some advice.... Guest guest
Our DAN dietician told me that I will know when iel is getting too much of the EFAs because his stools will begin to get oily. Until then, it is safe to up the amount. We started with 1tsp., but she bumped us up a tsp. at a time every couple of months. We're at a Tbsp. now because of inflammation issues. iel is only 3 1/2yrs. Meleah Re: sick for 1 month staight, need some advice....
