Guest guest
Haemophilus influenzae is one of the three most common bacteria that people with CF grow in their respiratory systems ... the other two common ones are staphylococcus aureus and pseudomonas aeruginosa. Of course, there are many others but these are the most frequent. Haemophilus influenzae (nothing to due with flu) is often grown at the early stage of disease and the other two follow later. Doctors don't seem to be as concerned about treating it, so perhaps it is not known to be as damaging as PA. M
Guest guest
Treatable, sometimes cureable, but not one of the BIGGIES; babies can now be vaccinated against it as it is the primary cause of otitis media; all my grandchildren have been vaccinated against it; it also causes (mainly in the military, large groups) meningitis; in my opinion, every baby diagnosed with cf should be vaccinated--at least that is what MY internist and cf doctor say! Cancel panic! Love, n Rojas, who has had this lovely many times--still here! Update on Shelby Not pseudomonas after all! Haemophilus influenzae! Not sure what that is? Is it worse, same or better? Would like simple explanation in English please. She is still in hospital for the IV's but is beginning to get really naughty because she is fed up and bored. The play lady is off sick. So she is completely fed up with Mummy. Therefore Grandma Maggs is going in to spend the night on Friday and Mummy is going to go away for a break then come back Saturday lunchtime. Guest guest
Hi Grandma Maggs! H flu is probably better. Its easier to treat. Usually it wouldn't need IV's but there may be other reasons your grand daughter is in the hospital. Have fun with her this weekend! love, M
