Guest guest
JT, My husbands' father loathes doctors, and he has cast that loathing onto my husband. Everytime I'd have a flare up, he'd get angry because that meant i'd have to go to the hospital and be poked and prodded and given meds to combat the pain and nausea. It also didn't help that he and my GI clashed, and so in the middle of an attack, I'd be trying to defend my doctor to my husband and vice versa just to keep the peace. I have told my husband in no uncertain terms that not all doctors are bad at what they do, and that if a doctor hadn't performed my first surgery (not for pancreatitis, but a hereditary condition I have) then I would be dead or dying by now. The same for my second surgery for sure (precancerous polyp in my duodenum). Yet if something were to happen to our daughter (accident or severe illness) he would want me to get her to the nearest hospital for treatment.. I've told him that if it is okay for her to go, then it has to be okay for me to go also, and he's just being hypocritical. It's true there are some doctors out there who shouldn't be practicing, but at the same time, there are many who are saving many lives and helping others...just finding them and especially for such an unknown condition is the task we unfortunately have to take on.
