Well, I personally know five men with cystic fibrosis who were not

diagnosed until their forties, and who, like Hal, had served in the

military--gottta do something about this, gang; diagnosis should

be able to be done, if in no other way, on the basis of presentation

and the presumption and liklihood of the disease; obviously the child

or adult has something very significant and cf-like going on! n,

just typing out loud again!

10 year old has pseudamonas

My 10 year old has tested positive for Pseudamonas. We were told 5

years ago that he doesnt have CF. He does have most of the

symptons. He appears to be growing normally. He does have lots of

lung problems and lots of sinusitis.

My question is does any have a child that was diagnoised older. My

research tells me it is usually caught when they are little.

a was diagnosed when she was almost 8 years old. n,here I go

with a term that is going to make your teeth screech, she was not

classic, she's still not classic. By that I mean she does not have

the digestive problems that most cf people have. She is actually

over her " normal " weight, chunky size 14, for a 10 year old. But,

her lungs and her sinuses tell the classic story. So, don't fool

yourself mom. The quicker he is treated, the better he will do.

There is a guy in the spanish cf list that was diagnosed in his

thirties , 2 or three years later he had a lung transplant. His

younger brother was diagnosed first and then him. Have him tested,

sweat test or dna test, if he does not have cf then at least you will

have peace of mind.

Good luck to you,

mom of LUisa 10 wcf, Venanzio 7 nocf Pepe 4 tomorrow! nocf

, I could not agree with you more--I am identified as " classic, " and well,

Gale

can tell you how short, dinky, and downright puny I look!!!! n

whose

teeth have not screeched yet. s Hopkins CF Center claims that nearly one

third of its obviously cystic fibrosis patients have no identified

mutation--yet, and

yet many fall into more " typical " patterns than do some of their " Classic

varieties "

I take it back--I assume that those terms were invented to designate

predominance

of mutations in the population and have little to do with " presentation. " Teeth

still o.k., ---n, who is now taking enzymes, eating lunch, drinking a

beverage and typing all at the same time, which explains my rotten typing!!!

Love, Love, from this old person wcf!
