Guest guest
Hal and everyone, I am with you. I would not want anyone here to feel that they were being disrespected or to be offended. I don't believe that anyone has tried to convert anyone to their own beliefs or even made a big thing of what they believe for themselves. Yes, many of us have said " I am (fill in religion) " but no one has said " And you should be too! " I have yet to see anyone be disrespectful about any religion. I was raised to respect all religions and everyone's beliefs, even if they do not include a religion at all. It is not up to me to tell people what to believe. (ok that is MY belief) I do understand the reasoning behind the " no religion on the list " idea. Some faiths do teach that in order to be a good member, that you HAVE to preach/promote a specific idea. The only thing that I was really questioning is that it hasn't happened here, so while " prayer " is part of " religion " , it is pretty non-specific as to what religion they are referring. It really doesn't offend me to be asked to pray, but if it is a problem for anyone else I guess we could go back to the " special thoughts " and " good vibes " euphemisms for prayer. It just seems a bit silly to me when we all know that we are really saying that we will pray. Oh well! Whatever the moderators want is fine. We are all respectful of each other and I respect the moderators reasons for the " no religion on the list " thing anyway. OK I will try not to say anything else about the subject!
