Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Good to see your post. I hope at least that it's a bit less frustrating now that you have a definite answer from Dr that he thinks you're definitely a TP candidate. Did the other lot say what they thought the pain was, if not from the panc? Did Dr suggest anywhere else he would try for the TP/ICT or was it a bit vague at this stage? I think you can trust him to keep trying can't you? I do hope that makes you feel that something positive is being done. I know how frustrating it is to have different opinions from docs. I really think that so little is known yet about the pancreas and its diseases that there are genuine disagreements, even among the top specialist, as to the exact nature of different pancreatic problems and their most effective treatments. On my possible TP I've had four responses. To summarise crudely : (1) Gastro : " Don't! " (2) Pancreatologist leading panc team : " I'm willing to do it if you want me to. " ??????!!!!!!! (3) Associate professor of surgery : " You should build it into your life plan over the next year or two. " Life plan????!!!! (4) Geneticist : " It's a very reasonable decision to do nothing. " !!!!!!!!! I could add to that two views from two of the GP's in my local practice : (1) " Do! " (2) " Don't! " So there we are! Professional opinions don't always coincide. Whatever the course of action, one would always prefer agreement between the experts but it's not always to be had. I hope you've laughed again recently, Chrissy. Take care and keep as positive as poss. With love, Fliss (UK)
