Guest guest
Carol sent this to me.... regarding Tropican orange juice... ----- Original Message ----- > > Cathy, > > I know Tropicana OJ is " legal " ..... but I am becoming more and more uneasy about the possible additives that just don't agree with some people. I read an article about how Tropicana is processed and how the skins get in it and it is not organic. This was by Sally Fallon who advocates other diet protocols that include illegals for SCD, but Sally is very conscientious about food purity. I now prefer whole fruit to juice and freshly squeezed O.J. to Tropicana, BTW: We have had an recall of freshly pressed apple cider here in Ontario and feel more an more the importance of as much home made food as possible despite the desire for convenience. I bought the little six pack of Trolpicana and it didn't taste as good as home squeezed so iI use little diluted for swallowing Vitamins every day until the six pack is finished. Most processed juice sales are controlled by Coca-Cola (owners of Minute Maid) or PepsiCo (owners of Tropicana). What the consumer is not hearing is the bad news about processed orange juice, which often contains heat-resistant fungi and pressure-resistant E coli. (International Journal of Food Science Technology, 10/95 ) Mutagenic and cytotoxic fractions have also been found in heat- and acid-treated orange juice. (Food Chemistry, 1989, 31:(4):289-294.)
