Guest guest
Well, for those of you who are noticing this tremendous thirst, my two cents... They probably are trying to fill up on drinks if they are not happy with their food choices, but I do believe it is also due to flushing out whatever toxins they have in there. Just a little tid bit I learned from my modeling days in my late teens and early twenties...We were always told that if we wanted to cut back on what we were eating whether it be less food, cutting out the junk food for more healthy food, or whatever, to drink lots of water. It would help fight the cravings off was what a couple of ladies who were more experienced models had told me. I was just starting out. I wasn't worried about needing to lose or maintain my weight, but I wanted to eat healthier. It worked. I think that part of the deal is that these kids are having terrible cravings...at least some of them...and they don't have to control to go get what they want. They drink lots of fluids to help the cravings and flush out their system. Just my personal theory. Meleah Re: Thirsty? This is the end of week two for us and my son is VERY THIRSTY and drinking all the time too!!!! I dilute the juice with lots of water. I don't know if it's normal and don't know if he should be having so much to drink but what can I do? I have taken everything else away from the poor guy as it is that he survived on (rice milk, fries, potatoe chips, etc.) Kristie > > > Our son is on the SCD, about 5 weeks now. Guest guest
Just to be sure.... are you absolutely positive the juice you are using is a legal one? If he's drinking a lot of fruit juice, you might want to consider switching to SCD lemonade.... made with fresh lemon juice, and sweetening with saccharin (www.hermesetas.com ) instead of honey, if you think honey is causing any possible problems, or if it isn't tolerated. The fresh lemon juice helps alkalinize the system. You could also add just a TINY pinch.... just a dusting.... of baking soda to his drink. This helps alkalinize, too. Just the tiniest trace is all that's necessary... not enough to taste funny. We hear about this extreme thirst once in a while, with some of the brand new SCD kids... and also extreme, ravenous hunger. Both seem to be temporary. Patti Re: Thirsty? Guest guest
my daughter and i are on day 14, and we are thirsty all of a sudden too. i can't seem to get enough in me, though i'm trying to avoid drinking while eating, so as to not dilute my digestive enzyme. also, my daughter does not seem to be trying to fill herself up, i actually think she is really enjoying what we've been eating so far. our thirst does coincide with starting goat yogurt, so i thought it might have to do with more die-off. > Well, for those of you who are noticing this tremendous thirst, my > two cents... > They probably are trying to fill up on drinks if they are not happy > with their food choices, but I do believe it is also due to > flushing out whatever toxins they have in there. Guest guest
Thanks for all of the responses about thirst (and my related legal vs. illegal juice posts). My son has always drank quite a bit but his thirist has certainly increased with the diet. I don't think it's an issue of not being happy with the food choices. We've been very fortunate that he has transitioned to it pretty easily (still asks about breads, pasta, milkshakes, ice cream, choc. milk but no major meltdowns over it. Amazing, if you knew his history.). He's eating very often - lots of little meals throughout the day. He's just drinking often, too. We've been back and forth on legal/illegal juices. (thanks for many on and off list responses). We've stopped Santa Cruz. Continue with Welches 100%. Had stopped Tropicana Pure Premium but will reintroduce that again. All are diluted quite a bit with filtered water. (and then various legal supplements are added in.) I'm now researching the whole yeast overgrowth issue and foods associated with that - good and bad. We're pretty sure he has had am undiagnosed/untreated yeast problem for years. Still no observable positive signs in the way of better sleep, reduced anxiety, increased calmness but we're hoping as we are still tweaking the diet (adding in and taking out foods and supplements), it'll come. The folks are this list, new and old, are most helpful! Thanks. Moving forward two steps and back one but we're moving!
