Guest guest
Yes, this is probably die off, and it should be short lived. Die off can last anywhere from a day or two to a couple of weeks. Have you tried epsin salts baths or activated charcoal? Both help relieve the toxic " fuems " that the bacteria and yeast give off. Eggs also wouldn't be my first choice of food if I'd been feeling nausiated. You might try something bland like applesauce or pearsauce. Meleah SCD 05/06 iel 3.5yrs. ASD, Ethan 5yrs., Mark 20mths., both NT I don't know how much longer.... Friday completed my 3rd week on the SCD diet. I have felt lousy since Tuesday. The energy completely drained from my body and I have felt nauseaus since then. I try to eat, but every time I look at food I just want to vomit. There have been a couple of occasions when I actually felt hungry and I was able to eat eggs, but then I get a sick feeling in my stomach. I'm basically useless and I feel so bad for my kids. Please tell me that this is just a stage and I'll feel better soon because I don't think I can take it anymore. Thanks, Deb in MA
Guest guest
Horray! You saw die-off. Good job being mommy Meleah! When we have those tough times of die-off, we back up to the intro diet for a couple of days. It gives their bodies a break so as to heal quicker. Guest guest
Deb, This is classic die-off. You wouldn't be feeling this bad if there weren't a LOT of " bad guys " down there that are now biting the dust. Take a nice long soak in the tub with a cup or more of epsom salts added... and don't forget activated charcoal supplements can help, too. The " electrolyte drink " can be very helpful at this point.... look on www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info , in the " Knowledge Base " under " E " , for the recipe. Doesn't taste too wonderful, but little sips can help settle your tummy. Adding some fresh lemon juice can help alkalinize your body. Staying hydrated is essential... just like if you had the flu. It's great that you have started the diet with your kids... but this is definitely one of the drawbacks to that strategy. Just remember... it's temporary. Patti I don't know how much longer.... Guest guest
That's what I keep telling myself! I'm sure I would've caved in by now if it weren't for that realization. I know my colon is healing because the amount of blood with stool has been dramatically decreased and I know if I can hang in there it will be gone. I'm just about tapered off of my Prednisone as well (it wasn't working anyway). My husband took the kids to church this morning so I was able to take a LONG soak in the tub. Unfortunately, I didn't have any epsom salt, but it still felt really good. Oh...and the kids aren't on this diet (yet). I feel bad for them because they've been trapped inside for a week and I've had a very short temper. They're good sports and are trying to help by getting me water. Thanks for the tips for getting through this. I have a feeling the worst is over (God willing), but I will make sure I'm prepared for the 3 month die off!
