Guest guest
Hi Carol, This is Bob. I can tell you that some of the fatigue will disappear over time. Any major surgery drains you energy and stamina. Having CP Will cause some people to have bouts of fatigue as with the CP and the diet you have to stay on, your body doesn't get all of the nutrients it needs. Every one is a little different but I will try to give you some general guidelines for a diet. I appreciate anyone else's input. Try to keep your fat intake to around 30 grams per day. I know, that isn't much. No foods with mayo becausthey are high in fat. Some people cannot eat high protein foods as they are too hard to digest. Are you on some kind of enzyme therapy? They generally help with digestion and the pain. Also if you have a sweet tooth try to stay away from treats that are made with hydrogenated oil. Even some low fatand fat free candy can cause an attack if it has the hydrogenated oil and you get too much. As I said earlier, everyone reacts differently to different foods, so some of it is trial and error. No fried food, period. If you can't resist the temptation then you may have to suffer later. I think most of us have done that a time or two. LOL Some people can't have caffeinated drinks. Here again it depends on your tolerance. I can't handle carbonated drinks anymore. The gas builds up in my system and stays there. Another suggestion, try to eat more smaller meals rather than a few big ones as to not overload you pancreas and digestive tract. I hope this helps some and I'm sure that some other people here will have some excellent suggestions. Try to keep smiling and I hope you are having a good day. I was told to lower my carbs in an attempt to fight the fatigue. I was told to stay way low on the fat as I still have CP. So what in the heck do I eat???? The one thing I did get away with is I am not diabetic. It was a huge concern. While in hell, I mean the hospital, they were giving me shots or juice depending on my sugar for the day. Not a way I want to live. My heart goes out to you that have to do this. Diet and fatigue hints are hugely appreciated. I have to start thinking again on Nov. 1st. HELP! Sleeping at my desk is not an option. Carol
Guest guest
Dear Carol, I was so glad to see your post. I have thought of you often and was wondering how you were. And the fact that you have been released to return to work is wonderful. I am very happy that things went well for you. I really can't answer any of you questions but just wanted to hi. Also, I always was under the impression that carbs were energy food for the body? So I wonder why your Md says to limit then for the fatique. I must have wrong info or something. I am confused now. Please take it easy and I hope your energy returns quickly. Love, w Carol wrote: Hi guys, Been gone for 8 weeks recovering from my Whipple. Just got released by the surgeon to go back to work. Guest guest
" I always was under the impression that carbs were energy food for the body? " The doc called it Sleep Peptide or something like that. Blood sugar levels and the like. My stomach empties VERY rapidly. What is left of it that is. I hate these pee ant food portions. There is no gusto left in a meal. Eating out of a tiny fruit bowl stinks. But, then again, vomiting and being in pain stinks more. I digress with whining. Doctor H. wants me to eat more salads and less carbs/fats to try and slow down the dumping and let me absorb more nutrients. I have lost 55 pounds. Aside from having to wear some help up top - overshare, I like being thin. Being tired all of the time is no good though. Carol
