Guest guest
Caroline, Below is the website for PharmaNord, the company in the UK that manufactures Antox. I realize this isn't what you asked for, but I thought you may be interested in reading what they have to say on their website. I have ordered from them and taking Antox which is already complete is easier, but I've found that the orders take longer due to the fact that everything has to go through US Customs, and it requires a lot of forethought......something I'm not any good at anymore!! http://www.pharmanord.dk/index.htm?l=uk As far as US sources go, all of these antioxidants are manufactured by Solgar, a vitamin and supplement producer whose products can be found in most health food stores, any upscale pharmacy, or online. If my local health food store is out of stock, I order most of my supplements online through VitaminShoppe.com. If you register with them, give them my name..........they'll send me free tickets to Tahiti, or perhaps a new car, for bringing them more business.....LOL !! Actually, a friend from the PAI recommended this online pharmacy to me and I've been really pleased with their prices and their promptness, so I've never looked elsewhere. You are right, to take them individually, it means a lot of pills....9 to be precise, since the L-Methionine only comes in 500 mg. quantities, you have to take 4 of those to equal the correct dosage of 2 grams. Fortunately, I don't mind taking pills!!! I only buy the Solgar brand, (or sometimes Nature Madeas they are pure extracts and don't contain any fillers, starch, sugar, food coloring or other additives. I haven't been able to find any evidence of contraindication for taking Acetonel with CP. I'm interested in discussing this with my GI at my appointment this afternoon. It may be an alternative for my osteoporosis problems, since I'm not sold on Fosamax after further reseach (with the help of my PAI friends). Thank you, . If you need any more help with this, just yell. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Heidi, Thank you so much for the info. I hadn't considered the red-tape delay buying from outside the US. I will try your vitamin site. I am really interested in what your GI has to say about the Actonel. Mine didn't think it was a problem. I've been on it a year, had my first acute attack last December and a 2nd in August. CTs, MRCP, ultrasounds later, no definitive cause. In December my PCP thought it might be related to the other 'new' med I'd recently started taking--Singulair. It does have a documented 'rare but serious' adverse effect of causing pancreatitis. Since I had a 2nd attack in August, 7 months after stopping the med, that was not the cause. As I said I've had 2 acute attacks each with 5-7 day hospitalizations and no diagnosed cause. Antioxidants & diet change (low fat, small meals, etc) certinly will be generally helpful even if it doesn't prevent another acute panc attack. I have been lurking here since my first attack and have gained a wealth of information and insight to pancreatitis, both acute & chronic. Thank You again and to the others that share here.
