Guest guest
I noticed that you said that you use Viokase 8 and that you take 8 with meals and 4 with snacks. I take Viokase 16 and it is exactly double the dosage as the Viokase 8 so I'm wondering why your doctor hasn't switched you over to them. That way you'd only have to take half the amount of tablets. Best wishes.
Guest guest
I think the reason why my doctor put me on the Viokase 8 because it was as close to the one I had been taking. It was kind of an emergency situation, so she wasn't thinking about saving the amount of pills I was taking as to finding something as close as possible to the one I had been taking. See, I had been taking Cotazym, and I had called in my prescription, only to find that they never got the refill 5 days later (because it's a special order, I have to call 5 days in advance) and then had the manager put in the order. Then I went to pick it up another 5 days later to find out it still hadn't been ordered because the manufacturer had discontinued it and the pharmacy had not looked for a substitute because it was the doctor's job to pick the mediction (pass the buck, huh?) and I was nearly out of them and desperate for something to replace them. The Viokase 8 was what the doctor came up with. Right now it's doing fine for me, but I'll talk with the doctor about possibly switching to Viokase 16 if my insurance covers that one (it probably will, but you never know these days).
