Guest guest
Hi guys, With SCD my daughter's seizures are under control. We also supplement with all the B vitamins in a good SCD legal B complex. We also added DMG (B15). I found that the addition of DMG helped very much with her. Many autistics have this similar success. She also gets an extra dose of B12, B6 and folic acid. But to be honest I think that Fanatical adherence to SCD was the most important piece to this. When she was eating grain she was having 3 to 5 nocturnal seizures a night. She had at least two drop seizures a month. THEY are gone now. One of the first things to vanish with SCD. Been SCD for over a year. Last seizure was in November 2006. She is not on meds. I personally do not feel that grain is a good food now for any of us....nor is all the starch and sugar that most American's eat. http://ccgi.cobbler.plus.com/search.php?q=seizures<http://ccgi.cobbler.plus.com/\ search.php?q=seizures> Antoinette and family of Five (SCD 2/06) (List that we are healing from: IBD, IBS, CD, Malabsorption, Candida, Bad Gut Flora, Leaky Gut, Food Intolerances, Allergies, Heavy Metals, ADHD, Autism/PDD, Seizures, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Mental Illness, Hyperekplexia and more....Elaine was right...a true SCD miracle!) Guest guest
I see you have been at this for just over a year. At what point did you add in the DMG in particular? We are only a few weeks into the diet and are currently not taking any supps besides cod liver oil because our doctor wants to wait until we do a stool sample next week before adding anything in. I have been waiting for probiotics from GIProHealth for 2 weeks now and have a bottle of their prozymes, but want to wait on those a while too. I'm trying to figure out at what point I could add B complex etc. Thank you!!!
Guest guest
Hi , WE added the DMG this November 2006 (the last time she had a seizure)...so we would have been 9 months into SCD. It seemed to increase her ability to talk more too. We stopped it for a while and she was more mute again...this is why we know it helps. We followed the advice in the BTVC book and started her on B12 and B complex the first day of SCD. Why wait for the doctors tests??? I do not trust most of them. Most tests do not test for deficiency very well. For example, Elaine said that we need to have a HIGH NORMAL for the vitamin B12. This helps to fight the bad gut flora and to heal the gut....most doctors do not supplement with B12 shots or B12 nasal inhalers unless this is below the normal range...even if it is " low normal " ...MOST do not see this as a problem. WE had to beg for it, with Elaine's book at hand to show them what I just said to you. This is what we started with: CLO, Evening Primrose oil, multi vitamin, B complex, B12 (nasal spray) and calcium. Truly not much compared to what some suggest....we took Elaine to hear....in her book she suggests so little as far as supplements are concerned. Plus we don't have much money. Thankfully SCD for us didn't take an expensive doctor, tons of testing and tons off supplements. The most important part was doing SCD correctly. Do not give foods that are too advanced or too hard to digest. The second huge peace to this is the SCD yogurt. Have you started the goat yogurt or acidophilus yet??? I truly feel that this was a huge piece in healing the gut and getting rid of the bad gut bugs. http://ccgi.cobbler.plus.com/search.php?q=yogurt+and+autism<http://ccgicobbler.p\ lus.com/search.php?q=yogurt+and+autism> This may be helpful for your understanding about this. If you heal the gut you may not need to prozymes. Some do...personal choice. Add them slowly and not give anything else new, in case they cause distress you will know to stop them. Enzymes did not work for our daughter until she had healed 6+ months into SCdiet. Her gut was so damaged the protease hurt her. Most enzyme companies warn not to use the protease containing enzymes if you have ulcerations and that those with IBD should not use protease...the problem is...most of these ASD kids (our daughter included) do not know how damaged their guts are. This is why I suggest you be careful with the enzymes. Talk to you soon, Antoinette and family of five (SCD 2/06)
