Guest guest
Cathy, If the homeopathic remedy works for her, I would not worry about the few doses you will give her for this temporary illness.... Elaine always said that if a child needs a medication, you need to give it.... even if it contains a bit of illegal. It would be ideal not to give something with sucrose, but this isn't something you're going to be giving her every day, indefinitely. There are no fever reducing meds that I know of that have absolutely zero starches added, but I have used adult Tylenol tablets for years with Katera.... just broken or cut into the appropriate dosage amount (as close as I can come to the exact dosage for her weight... erring, if I have to, to a bit under that dose), ground up and mixed with applesauce. You can also look for Feverall suppositories, which are acetominophen (Tylenol) in a suppository form. They may have *some* starch in them as a binder.... but no colorings, flavorings, etc.... and may have less impact on feeding bad bugs since they are given as a suppository, but I'm really not sure about that. Those are available over the counter. You could also have Tylenol or Motrin compounded by a compounding pharmacy to have on hand for next time, if you want to use either one of those. Or, look for your homeopathic remedy in an alcohol based liquid form.... that can be dosed into a cup of warm water. Stirring a bit in very warm water causes the alcohol to evaporate off.... and you're left with the active part of the homeopathic that she can just drink. Personally, I don't treat fever unless it goes over 103 degrees for my daughter (age 10). Fever is the body's natural mechanism for fighting viruses and bacteria..... it's trying to do it's job and is one sign of a healthy response from the immune system. Suppressing fever just stops the body from being able to burn out the bad bugs. Of course, there is harm in having a fever go too high for too long..... but young children can actually tolerate quite high fever without being in danger (check with her pediatrician's office to find out the point at which they really want you to bring it down). At that point, you can do tepid baths.... or cool cloths to the head, neck and wrists. Other than that, the only reason to give medication to lower fever is to make her more comfortable. Patti Homeopathic Remedies- sucrose pellets /granules illegal right has a fever. I've only used homeopathic remedies with her for the past 3 years...SCD illegal ones.(sucrose pellets) She has never tolerated anything over the counter for fever...intolerant to anything and everything when it comes to fever medication... All the inactive ingredients...what binds it, flavours it,colours it, synthetic or not ..etc. have always been a problem....they make her tummy real sick. I suppose there are no fever medications with nothing in them? I hope the fever doesn't last long... Cathy Mom to , SCD since August
Guest guest
Thanks, The suppositories are a good idea..Should of thought of that . I've tried the adult tylenol in the past..when I didn't guess the remedy right...as a last resort :the adult tylenol tablet made her stomach very sick...and I had to medicate her tummy for a week later. I hope we are not sick for Christmas.!!!! Bye, Cathy > > Cathy, > > If the homeopathic remedy works for her, I would not worry about the few doses you will give her for this temporary illness....
