Hi Guys,

I want to thank you for all your support. I truly do appreciate it. Some

of you say that I am inpatient to have this surgery. Well, let me just say,

I was approved in 1997 with Dr. Fobi, in California to have the Fobi Pouch

and then circumstances beyond my control, prevented that from happening. My

place of employment would not allow me to fly there for checkups or even to

have the surgery. It is a major airline and I had a workers comp. injury at

the date of the surgery.

Then I went through 7 months of pre-op testing at ECU in Greenville, NC,

driving 2 hours each way and having to arrive there at 7 am each morning for

the testing. Many hours and days spent there, only to be told, I was not a

candidate for the Gastic Banding. I have ulcer disease and acid reflux and

they said the surgery would make that worse. Well since then IT HAS

DEFINITELY GOTTEN WORSE! but I didn't have the surgery. Now about 2 years

later.. I can't hardly walk or function and my BMI is 60.

My mom who has been an RN for many years went with me and we talked with Dr.

R for a very very long time. She has assisted in the OR on RNY's and other

types. She has treated patients, had friends that were patients and seen

cancer surgeries.

They do perform this on cancer patients and have for over 15 years. She put

him on the spot and ask for detailed explanations of each procedure. She

asked how does he prevent bile from going back into the old stomach and the

esophagus. How he keeps blood flow into the old stomach and keeps it alive

in case at any point you want to or need to have it reversed. How is he

sure the new stomach would stretch back out too.

*Well he uses a part that has the muscles in it which make it stronger and

is less likely to stretch out.

*He bypasses the intestines so far that if there is any incident of back

flow it can't even reach the esophagus.

If they have used this on cancer patients for over 15 years, and my mom has

seen this procedure done in West Virgina, and in Florida where she did most

of her nursing career. Why would they want to cause more cancer in

patients. And who is to say that it does? She was completely satisfied

with all of his answers and now she wants to have it done too.

OH BY THE WAY, THERE ARE SURGEONS COMING FROM LIKE 4 OR 5 STATES TO LEARN

THE PROCEDURE FROM DR. R, SO PATIENTS WON'T HAVE TO TRAVEL ALL THEY WAY TO

NC TO HAVE THIS SURGERY! So he won't be the ONLY DOC performing this for

long!

If any of you ever cared to sit down with him and discuss it, then you would

find out too. There are CERTAINLY risks involved with everything.

My sister had a batched up gallbladder and the SURGEON disected her bile

duct from her liver. (completely detached it) had to call in another doctor

to repair it, had to do the open incision and she ALMOST died then. The

doctors all said it would definitely cut 10yrs off her normal life and she

would eventually have to have a liver transplant. THE hospital SAID, WELL

SHE

DIDN'T DIE DURING SURGERY, HE FIXED IT, SO THAT WAS OK. Then they said,

anyways, how do we know she would live that long anyway to a normal life for

a young healthy 45 year old woman. They said How do we know she won't be

killed in a car accident or something. I wish they hadn't said that.

WELL MY SISTER'S RISK AND COMPLICATION CAME WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE

MORNING. NOVEMBER 19, 1998. SHE WAS KILLED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. AT AGE

45.

You see, so none of know about tomorrow. Only God knows for sure. It has

truly been a nightmare. You see, we all need to live everyday to it's

fullest and be thankful for we have and the tools we are given to make it

better. I am NOT living right now. I am ONLY existing! and it's not a

very pleasant existence either.

We all need to do what we need to do. I have researched it. I ask him many

times about Ms. T. He laughed and did go into detail. He can only sue her

for libel if his income is hurt from the lies she writes about him. He says

it has helped. It is drawing more attention and all the people she writes

to come to his site for a look and want to see what's going on. So he

says the MGB truth site brings him EVEN MORE patients.

So if I get cancer in 15 years.. THEN I WILL BE THANKFUL TO HAVE LIVED 15

YEARS LONGER. My fiancee's mother just died last year with BREAST CANCER at

60,

My DAD died at 64 of a heart attack,

My uncle died at 46 from weighing over 400 lbs and he fell and the impact

was so hard, it stopped his heart.

My cousin died at 42 with BREAST CANCER.

My other cousin died at 21 in a motorcycle accident the day before his

wedding.

and my LOVING SISTER died at age 45 in a CAR ACCIDENT.

http://members.nbci.com/godfreyp1/debi.htm in memory of my sister if you

care to.

If I don't make it thru this surgery, at least I will have died trying and I

know I will be going to that special place that has been prepared and ONLY

the SPECIAL ones get to go first.

So THANK YOU all very much for YOUR words of SUPPORT and encouragement. I

am having surgery with the GOOD DOCTOR and the ONE OF THE BEST. Yes I

CAN'T WAIT to BEGIN MY NEW LIFE. I ONLY wish I had done it sooner, so I

could have been able to do things with my family who is NOW gone!

one last note:

There is so much BAD in the best of us,

and so much GOOD in the worst of us,

that it hardly becomes any of US

to talk about the REST of US.

God Bless YOU All.... Joyce BMI60
