Guest guest
-I had my gallbladder out back in 1978, I have the huge scar (since that was before lap surgery) and am now 2 weeks post op. Mine did cause a little trouble for Dr R. My surgery lasted 70 min and I lost more blood than he had anticipated because he had to remove alot of adhesions before he could get to the MGB. But being the Dr that he is he forged ahead and like I said I am almost 2 weeks post op and am down 24 lbs. I didn't have any extra pain or trouble afterwards. I was released from hospital next day and was home 5 days later. I went back to work this past Monday and I am great. Good Luck !!!!! Guest guest
Hi, I'm . I had my GB taken out in 87. There was some tissue there when I had my MGB, but Dr. R went right through it and my surgery was only 38 min. He knows what he is doing and I am sure if there is some tissue, he will still ACE the surgery. Good luck to you and stop worrying. May God bless you is my prayer. Guest guest
Dear GDog, I had my MGB on Aug. 10, 2000 after having had my gallbladder removed in 1983. During my interview with Dr. R., he said that it was a possibility that my scar would interfere with the surgery and even prevent it. However, Dr. R. was able to remove the scar tissue and perform the surgery. The only difference was that it took longer - 82 minutes instead of the usual 30-40. I didn't need an extra port (although he said that I might). I had absolutely no complications. So don't worry. Good luck. Guest guest
I had surgery on 10/04 - I had open gallbladder surgery 15 years ago, with a diagonal scar on the upper right side of my abdomon. Dr. R. was worried that my surgery might take longer due to having to cut through scar tissue and adhesions. But he was able to place the port holes just below the scar and did not have to deal with it at all. My surgery took 37 minutes and I had no pain and no nausea. I was up walking 30 minutes after getting back to my room. Darrow MGB 10/04/00 259/251/...129 > Has anyone had their gallbladder out prior to MGB? I had mine out > 10 years ago. Guest guest
Gdog, I had my gallbladder out, but laparoscopically - so that scar wasn't a problem. However, I had a nasty appendectomy scar in the right abdomen that is over a foot long and there wasn't any trouble. Guest guest
--I have a different problem. In 1990, I had a radical hysterectomy. The scar goes through my umbilicus and about one inch above. I remember seeing some pictures of a patient post-op that showed the port sites. Now I can not find it. The manual only shows 4 port sites. Please help!!! I'm afraid that I'll be denied also. - In MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com, " Tarri " <rsrchcoord@n...> wrote: > Gdog, > I had my gallbladder out, but laparoscopically - so that scar wasn't a > problem.
