Guest guest
Hi everybody. I just got off the phone with Zoey. She asked me to tell everyone hi. She is leaving Pennsylvania Sunday. They will be headed for Tennessee. They will be in the Smokey Mountains for the next 3 weeks. She is doing well and told me that she misses everyone. It was really good to talk to her. She did help to lift my spirits just hearing her voice. I went to Indianapolis yesterday to plead my need for surgery. I was allowed to talk about 10 minutes and then some of the people asked me a few questions that I had already answered in the materials I had sent to them. I was there for a total of about 20 minutes. I was told they would have a decision by the time we got home and I could call in to find out what the decision was. I called back in about 3 hours. I was denied again. That was the last appeal level I can do with Cigna. I called the Indiana Insurance Commission this morning. They are sending me the form so that I can file a formal complaint against Cigna. If they can not help me then I guess I will have to be a self pay. I am having a real hard time letting this go. I don't feel I should have to pay for this when they have paid for someone else that works with me to have this surgery. I am going to see if I can force Cigna to tell me why they covered her surgery but will not cover mine. Anyway, thanks for listening. I know there are people on this list that can relate to what I am going through with Cigna. I needed to whine to some people that understand. Guest guest
Hey Rhonda, Some lady posted a few days ago, that she was doing this as a self-pay but she was still sueing her insurance company for re-embursement.. that she would have more energy to do this after the surgery, Made lots of sense, so if there is any way you can self-pay.. maybe you should follow what shes doing? just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Rhonda, I was just wondering how you made out. It is such a slap in the face when you get your denial 3 hours later. It makes you feel (and know) they just went through the motions. The same thing happened to me. Do you have an opportunity to change insurance in an open enrollment plan. I am changing this month for next year. I am choosing my companys self-funded plan. It is administered by CoreSource. I already have been given a letter that the surgery will be OK as of January 1. I hope you can do something like that. Cigna is so frustrating to deal with especially when some get approved and some don't. Of course I am very happy for those who get there approval, I just hate the unfairness of it. , Denver, NC....know how you feel. Message from Zoey > Hi everybody. I just got off the phone with Zoey. Guest guest
Rhonda, I wrote last week about having the procedure and then fighting them afterward. from Springfield and I have the same insurance and she has been fighting them since January 2000. Now she is 100 lighter. I'm only 3 weeks post op but already 20 pounds lighter. They will probably wish they had me in the fat, lethargic state because now my energy level is on the move and I will be harder to manage. :0). I can only say (from contact with the attorneys in this group) that you don't loose leverage with the insurance company by fighting for retrospective payment. If anything, it shows how important this procedure is to you that you are willing to finance the process while they get their heads out of their as#$**. I got the second level denial from them last week (they made a decision in less than 3 days without even requesting my records from the Medical Center - I know, I work there and I checked. ) Now the Missouri Insurance Commission is filing a grievance on my behalf and they are forwarding me the criteria on which the insurance company based their denial. While I am thrilled with the physical process I still get very depressed at having to fight for coverage for something that will save them a ton of money in the long run. Just thought I would let you know where I am in the same battle. Tarri in Missouri MGB 09-29-00 329/300 Message from Zoey > > > > Hi everybody. I just got off the phone with Zoey.
