I was just wondering why she is doing SCD while going to weight watchers. I would imagine something as healthy as the SCD diet a person would not need weight watchers anymore. I'm not touting SCD as a weight loss diet at all..in fact I tell people its the opposite
Guest guest
> > > I am doing SCD but I am 5 feet tall and weigh 168 pounds. I should weigh about 35 pounds less. I originally started at 225 pounds. I was sick and miserable. I lost about 50 pounds with Weight Watchers in 2004. After that I got stuck, no weight loss. I switched to WW Core, which is a no counting plan that emphasizes whole, natural foods. I had always felt crummy, looked swollen and had IBS, but when I ate grains I would gain 2 to 3 pounds overnight. I spent a year losing and gaining the same 5 or 6 pounds. Finally the gluten intolerance was discovered. I started SCD on 11/30/06, but I was gaining weight on SCD. I went back to Weight Watchers on 2/5/07. I found that I needed the structure of WW, I have lost 4.6 pounds so far by combining strict SCD and the guidence of WW. Am I losing weight because my gut is healing and the thyroid pills I take are finally being absorved and used by my body? Or is it a combination of a healing gut, the fact that I now eat much less cheese and almond baked goods, and that I feel better so now I can exercise? I use WW as guide to learn how to eat in a way that fosters weight loss. I have a lot of strong emotions attached to food. Food has been a source of comfort and a source of pain, food is not just food to me. I am working hard on loving myself with SCD, healing my body. The people around me at the university tease me when they see me and my lunch box. I have a tough time and it is my fault; I don't fit in at Weight Watchers because I don't eat grains or fat free milk and around here I ruffle feathers when I mention weight loss. Maybe I would lose the excess weight naturally in time by simply following SCD, I don't know. I know myself and I know I tend to overeat. Can all of you still be my friends even if I am determined to pull this darn excess weight off?
Guest guest
Of course we will still be your friends. Doing SCD is hard emotionally sometimes because often we're looked at as fanatics, weird, or whatever. Do what's right for you body though, and you'll never be sorry. Guest guest
I think there are many people on list that can benefit from occasional discusions about weight loss and SCD. While most people go SCD to heal numerous health complaints, there are many people like myself that follow the diet because a child of ours is on it, or who can benefit from the wonderful foods AND need to lose a few pounds. I wish this list weren't so quick to pounce on those that don't fit the mold. We are all here for the same reason....Good health. The avenue to get there may not all be the same for everyone. I emailed on the weight loss issue since I lost 86 pounds seven years ago prior to needing SCD and have kept the weight off for seven years using SCD. Feel free to email me for help with the weight loss questions. I just think we have to stick to our mission on the list most of the time. I personally came in for heavy critiicism on the Long island SCD List when I was very concerned about gaining weight so I do understand how you must feel. My suggestions for those who have an obsity issue is to use www.fitday.com as a free tracking tool for calories, nutrition, journaling, etc. Moderate use of calorie dense foods like ut butters, dried fuit, honey etc. Try not to be food obsessed eeven though it is at the core of our discussions My story: http://www.angelfire.com/on4/diva_dog/ Carol F.
