Guest guest
Prosobee formula is soy based. Soy is not SCD legal. As far as I know, there is no commercial baby formula that is SCD legal. There is a baby formula recipe in the book, Breaking the Vicious Cycle, but I believe it's basically intended for short-term use. It's also dairy based. There may be recipes out there for home-made formulas you could make that *could* be compliant.... I think we had this topic come up on the list a few months back. It's a real dilemma. Of course, human breast milk is best.... and it might be possible to get donated milk from a milk bank. You might need to contact a local hospital .... or La Leche League might know. Patti Baby Formula Hi, I am trying to find out if Enfamil Prosobee is SCD compliant. Can anyone comment or point me to the correct formula for a 7 month old baby? Thanks, ER
Guest guest
Worth checking into, but my friend is an L & D nurse. She has told me in the past that milk from a breast milk bank is terribly expensive. My ped's office lactation consultant lives down the street. I'll ask her if she knows of a homemade formula recipe or two, and who one would contact about getting milk from a bank. Guest guest
Here's a link to info on human breastmilk banks: http://www.hmbana.org/ And here's a map to some of the locations in the US. There aren't very many. http://www.hmbana.org/index.php?mode=locations One formula that is used by a lot people with infants allergic to both cow dairy and soy is Nutramagen. It is extremely expensive and probably has many illegals. I operate the local Medela breastpump rental station in my area and have been renting pumps and selling breastfeeding supplies locally and on my website for the past 12 years. I have seen some of my local customers try all of the different formulas and then they have gone ahead and rented a hospital grade breastpump and relactated because their babies weren't able to tolerate the formulas. Good luck! Donna > > Worth checking into, but my friend is an L & D nurse. She has told me in the past that milk from a breast milk bank is terribly expensive. Guest guest
Hi, I only know of one type of formula that could be SCD compliant. Much more than that though, is it doesnt contain any cows product. This is called Karicare and is sold in New Zealand. They will ship to North America. There are many babies who cannot tolerate cow or soy formulas but can tolerate goats formula. This does not have any added sweetners. Goat milk solids (43%) Lactose (purified from milk) Vegetable Oils (high oleic sunflower, canola, sunflower) Choline chloride Taurine. Vitamins: Asorbic acid D1-alpha-tocopheryl acetate Niacinamide Retinyl acetate Cholecalciferol Beta-carotene Calcium d-pantothenate Cyanocobalamin Vitamin K1 Thiamin hydrochloride Riboflavin Pyridoxine hydrochloride Folic acid Biotin Minerals: Calcium hydroxide Sodium citrate Citric acid Ferrous sulphate Zinc sulphate Copper sulphate Manganese sulphate Sodium selenite Potassium iodide http://www.shopnewzealand.co.nz/en/cp/Karicare_Goat_Milk_Infant_Formula _1_Nutricia_900g Good luck, Noelle > > Hi, I am trying to find out if Enfamil Prosobee is SCD compliant. Guest guest
If this formula contains lactose, it is NOT legal on SCD..... sorry. Goat milk itself is not legal on SCD either.... unless it's fermented into yogurt. Patti Re: Baby Formula Hi, I only know of one type of formula that could be SCD compliant.
