Guest guest
You are 100% right; I have never heard of anybody going into a seizure with a BS of 63; actually I have never heard of anybody having a seizure from a low BS. They usually just pass out and could go into a coma. It was so weird. I couldn't even remember my name or age or anything for hours after. I have never felt so vulnerable in my life. I hate to think what could have happened had I been elsewhere or if I had been alone. I dont recall having any symptoms other then being very very sleepy. I have been taking 1 unit of novolon insulin for every 15 grams of carbs then take 12 units of Lantus at night. I am extrememly careful about how much I draw up and make sure to get the exact amount. I decided to drop that to 10 units and have been giving myself a little less when I eat. I am still waiting to hear from the islet doc in Cincy. I must have really shook because every muscle in my body aches. I am really really sore and have a hard time getting about. Just like if I had worked out at the gym for too long. Alison said it lasted a couple of minutes and that I was jerking around like crazy. Poor thing she was just getting out of the shower with only a towel wrapped around her when she called 911 and she stayed by my side until the emt's arrived, still wrapped in only a towel. She didn't even think about herself in the least. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful child. I really appreciate all of ya'lls support and will take the advice close to heart. I just wish I knew that it was happening; I just got very sleepy; which is not all that unusual. My doctor has prescribed for me to take my BS 3x a day and that is all the accustrips the pharmacy/insurance co will let me have. I will have to make them change that. I see the endocrinologist in 2 weeks. Billy does not want me to drive right now and I am dying to do the shopping. He doesn't know how to buy a thing much less plan meals..lol. What kinds of signs and symptoms are there when ones sugar goes too low? I know my mother passed out once and her sugar was 11 when the emts arrived. She almost died that time. 63 is not that low, its very confusing and very scarey. I guess when I get very sleepy during the day I should check my bs again, just to be on the safe side. Well never a dull moment huh!! Medicalert is not a bad idea Heidi; I'll have to look into that. Chrissy
