What is the name of the tea you both drink? I just got some green

tea, from Celestial Seasonings and it tastes like grass clippings, :-

) I have bought Chamomille and linden tea from them, but this is the

first time I've gotten green tea.

Like n said, green tea is really good for you, full of

antioxidants. But the tea I'm currently hooked on is Celestial

Seasonings Madagascar Vanilla Red. It's caffeine-free and made from

the rooibos plant, which has excellent health benefits. It also

contains vanilla bean. I love the flavor! Torsten and at least one or

two others on the Crataegus list said they've been drinking rooibos

tea for quite a while.

Here's that web site I found about the benefits of rooibos. Too bad

hospitals don't serve it!

http://www.africanredtea.com/index.html

And many months ago, one of the Crataegus members sent a little blip

about the benefits of white tea, which is supposed to be better for

you than even green tea. Here's a web site explaining it:

http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/new/whitetea.html

Celestial Seasonings has a new tea made with the white, it's called

Perfectly Pear White Tea. It's scrumptious, smells like a luscious

pear. But it does have caffeine, so you wouldn't want to drink it

before bedtime.

Another favorite is Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra.

The " extra " is valerian root, which relaxes you even before you

finish the cup (it also contains camomile). You shouldn't drink it if

you've recently had alcohol because it enhances the sedative effects.

But if you're ever having trouble sleeping or stressed out, this tea

is a wonderful tonic (especially sipping it while soaking in a hot

tub, then getting into warm jammies and going right off to sleep!).

The other tea is one of Celestial Seasonings Wellness Teas. When I

was back in Oklahoma in November for Larry's funeral, I started to

come down with that really bad cold that was making it's way across

the US. I started drinking this tea and it kicked butt. :) It's

called Echinacea Complete Care. It contains echinacea, vitamin C and

zinc -- all immune boosters -- and peppermint leaves (relaxes

strained throat feeling), licorice root (good for the throat),

roasted chicory root, natural menthol extract (opens airways),

lavender flowers (anti-inflammatory properties), stevia leaves, and

star anise (soothes the throat).

If you have reflux, you should avoid anything with peppermint, that

includes peppermint tea, candy, mints and gum. Peppermint oils

relaxes the sphincter muscle of the esophagus, making reflux worse.

On the other hand, if you have IBS or tummy cramps (but no reflux),

then things made with peppermint oil is what you want.

And if you have any disorder of the immune system such as lupus,

slerodoma, rheumatoid arthritis, etc., then you should use echinacea

with caution.

By the way, I do like the Celestial Seasonings green tea with honey

and lemon. I think it's definitely the best of their green teas. Go

ahead and add some honey to the grass clippings you bought. ;)

Here's Celestial Seasonings web site. They have so many teas now!

Kim.

Thank you for the info. I am going to the supermarket today and

hopefully will find the three teas. I went into Celestial's web

site but the shipping and handling comes to something like 20% of

total cost. Even if I get two of each is not worth it, we do have a

9.25% sales tax, still better than the 20%, s & h fee.

Thank you for the web sites I will print them later and read them

with more time.

Love to you and keep warm, we are going all the way to 54 degrees

today!

, I forgot to mention this ... and most tea boxes do not tell you

this... that to get the most benefit from any tea, you should let it

steep at least 10 minutes. An old friend once told me that you're

supposed to steep green tea at least 20 minutes before drinking, to

get all the goodies from the plants, herbs. Of course, after 10

minutes, tea will become lukewarm, so I have to heat it up again in

the microwave after steeping, but most the time I just put my tea mug

on this little electric " cup hot plate " that I have. It keeps the cup

of liquids warm very nicely!

Kim,

It is funny because sometimes I make my cup of tea and it will be 30

min before I can sit down and drink it. Usually I have to warm it

up in the microwave. With three kids, and they all want me at the

same time, but this is my life with everything.
