Guest guest
Hi Kimber, If you're unwell and in need of hospital admissions, with CP it often means you've been vomiting too. If you're vomiting you can loose potassium, so it's usual to replace this in the IV fluids. Sue (UK)
Guest guest
Sue, actually, I very rarely vomit when I have my attacks. I do get nausea, but usually I manage to get the nausea medication BEFORE I start vomiting. I do know when the pain doesn't stop and continues to escalate that I have to go NPO for several days, and that requires an IV to give me fluids. Once i'm able to handle food again without extra pain or nausea, they send me home with extra pain meds and how to titrate down as the pain drops to my normal levels.
