Hi, Joan:

Welcome to the wonderful world of the MGB! This list is where preops and

postops talk, share, listen, complain, and joke. It's a good place to lurk

for a while, post your questions, get more familiar with what folks are going

through as they prepare for surgery, and then after they've had the surgery.

If you haven't done this already, I suggest starting with Dr. Rutledge's

website, www.clos.net. There is good information there, well-organized, and

there's a 12-step process for applying for the surgery that's described on

his website.

The postops are here because we've had good weight loss success with a

caring, competent surgeon, and we want to help others who are considering

this process.

It's not an easy application process, by the way - Dr. R. wants only those

people who are well-informed about the MGB to undergo it, and he requires a

10-page paper, plus lots of medical information from your personal physician,

and any other information he deems pertinent. It's major surgery, and it's

NOT the easiest way to lose weight. But it was the ONLY way, for me.
