Guest guest
My son has been in a DOC band for 4 weeks, and he's run out of room. He's 4 months adjusted (6 months actual) and growing really quickly. We're really happy that he's responded so well to the treatment, but the downside is that Aetna won't pay for a second band until 8 weeks after the first one. So, that leaves us a 4 week gap until we can get insurance to pay for the second band. His torticollis is getting better, but we still have a long way to go. My husband and I are afraid that if we wait the 4 weeks, he'll start to regress. We're considering paying out of pocket for band #2 so that we can continue to see these great results...but we haven't exactly built an extra $3800 in the budget for this! Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you do? Did you go ahead and pay out of pocket or did you just concentrate on the PT, repositioning, etc and wait it out? Thanks! Guest guest
If it were me, I would just be very diligent with repositioning and keeping your baby off of his head as much as possible until your insurance will pay for another band. At just 4 months adjusted age, you still have plenty of time for improvement, but I understand you not wanting any regression. Is your baby plagio or brachy?
