Guest guest
It gets me so mad to read posts of how medical staff can just dismiss a person who has been through what we have been through and give them a label, simply because they have no idea how debilitating this disease can be both before and after surgery. Every doctor should understand the need to get off long term pain meds gradually to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms. But if still having the pain, then you shouldn't be getting off them at all. Can you get a referral to see a pain management doctor? Does your doctor in fact know what the nurse said to you? I for one would be complaining to the patient advocate about her comments. I have done that before about a nurse who overstepped her boundary. I don't usually wish this pain on anyone, but for uncaring and non understanding people with smart alec comments, just one dose of that pain would change their tune and beliefs. If it is not enough, I will scream bloody heck. But, I hope I can just be a normal person...uh, that may be asking way too much. As long as I don't pee off my pancreas, I should be okay. Don't know what the pain is under my ribs, Doc said is was where the most cutting and sewing was and it will hurt for a while? We will see if there is progressive abatement of the pain level. If not, I am in trouble. I will ask my PCP about a pain management doctor. Carol
Guest guest
Carol, Boy, those comments about that nurse has me steaming! I agree with 's assessment, you need to be slowwwwwwlllllllyyyy weaned off your meds. It's not something you can accomplish comfortably in a week. After two years of usage, your body needs more time for adjustment. It's a great idea to talk to your doctor about a PM doctor. Do it as soon as you can. They deal with these type of cases every day and can set up a step down plan for you to get off the stuff comfortably and without suffering the horrible withdrawal symptoms. Guest guest
If you are in pain, you should have told that nurse to get bent......tell her.....how about I hit you in the knee with a ball bat......now of course no one will be able to see your pain so since they can't see your pain, you must not be feeling any pain...You are just a drug seeker.......that will get the nurses attention.....And if you prefer not to go to that extreme.....everyone has a boss.....talk to hers I hope this finds you and yours well Mark E.
