Guest guest
Hi there, I truly don't think we would have had the success we had with our autistic daughter (who also has seizures, IBD/Celiac Disease) if I had not trusted this goat yogurt. This was the magic bullet in creating a healthier gut flora that helped her neurological problems and helped to heal her gut that was causing her deficiencies. Prior to trying SCD we where gluten free casein free, we arrived to SCD with MANY fears about these two proteins.... Once I joined Pecan Bread and spoke to the Pecan Bread owner (Mimi), I got the courage to try the yogurt. THIS IS WHEN we started to improve the MOST> She had better eye contact, less deliriums, no more night terrors, better seizure control, she wasn't at sleepy, she listened better, she started to smile, started to " try " to talk, and her poops where better. Her pain even became more manageable. BUT.....I will not lie. THE transition for her (and all of us) was a ROUGH. The " die off " that she had was a big one. We did have regressions. Yet, I would take those regressions any day though. Because afterwards she emerged a healthier higher functioning autistic little girl! I can only hope that you too could receive some gains. Not a cure....but many gains! There are things that you can do to make this transition easier (others can give you more ideas too): Some build up the yogurt slower than we did. You may want to do this, to make this transition easier. Try not to mix up " intolerance " to the yogurt with the die off symptoms (we almost did this and it would have been the wrong assumption). Also make sure that your starter is legal, and that you ferment it for 24 hours. Also, you can soak her in warm Epsom Salts Baths, and give her Activated Charcoal (one hour before and one hour after meals). Good Luck! Freezing will kill the beneficial probiotic lactic acid bacteria. Give your child a small amount of frozen yogurt (a dose equal to the amount of fresh yogurt that you are giving him.)If your child tolerates it,then it is not the dairy that is bothering him but the probiotics inside the yogurt. Guest guest
:Silvia, What type of reaction has your daughter experienced with dairy in the past? Did she ever test allergic to milk? If she has immediate and pretty servere reaction to dairy(secs/min/<1hour)...I would hold off for a bit with the yogurt.Just try a little bit(a taste), and increase this amount slowly(increase it weekly) if she seems ok. If she is not ok you will have to wait a while. You probably will know for sure within 2 to 3 days if she is oK..just trust your gut...as too many exposures to yogurt if she is truely allergic could make the allergy worse. When I first tried the goats yogurt with my son, he had a delayed reaction to it...at first a pretty good stomach ache...I waited a month longer and tried again...then he had a mild stomach ache when he ate too much...Now he seems ok with it. > My daughter on the other hand has a severe immediate reaction with a sore itchy mouth and upset stomach(1 drop of yogurt)..which probably is a true allergy. Freezing the yogurt may leave some probiotic in it, it did when I froze mine..but I don't think one taste of some frozen yogurt will start a major die-off episode. I would consider starting with the probiotic capsule and try the yogurt when her skin and other things are under control? Try the yogurt if you want...I did, as I was very impatient with the diet and I wanted to know where things stood for sure with regards to the yogurt. Good luck, Cathy Mom to ezcema kids and food intolerant/food allergic etc.
