Celiac and SCD/ was: Curious

Hi there, to those at Pecan Bread,

We have been healing from Celiac Disease (and much more) eating SCD for over one

year now. I thought I would share our story when I saw Carol's post about

Celiac. It is heart breaking to me that Dr. Hass solution for Celiac has been

driven under the carpet by those who have been convinced that the Gluten free

diet is all there is to healing. I don't doubt that they all have good

intentions, but clearly do not realize the error in their thinking.

Before SCD I belong to the Celiac Sprue Association/Support Group in my area

(CSA). I joined to get help for my family who was newly diagnosed with CD. I

truly never saw such sick people. NONE of them where in remission. All of them

had symptoms of pain and continued health complications. All of them blamed

" cross contamination " with gluten as their ills. All of them where convinced

there was no hope.....and blamed that tiny molecule of escaped gluten for

keeping them sick. I assumed that all of them where new comers to the group,

until I asked and found out that MOST of them where doing the GF diet for years!

I just cried on the way home. My daughter was vanishing into autism, nightly

seizures and deliriums and did not recognize her parents....at one time was only

gaining a mere 3 ounces a month. No doctor had an answer that would work.

After all autism has no " known cause " or " solution " ....They said that " Celiac "

should respond to a GF diet! I would not buy it! I knew her brain was

starving if her body was...and I knew it was all from malabsorption.

The story is much more complicated than this, but in short we later practiced GF

with " zero tolerance " in order to heal. " Zero Tolerance " is the phrase the CSA

used to explain no cross-contamination of gluten. WE did a perfect job...the

entire house was safe and GF. IT DID NOT WORK. The gluten free diet and even

GFCF DID NOT work for us. NONE of us. So there you go. I do not think my

family is that unique now. We had some success...but it was obvious that

something else was going wrong! We where not healing like I expected.

Then we went GFCF....a little more improvement but the same issues! Some said

that this is as good as it gets...that this is how it is to have CD! Some even

said that my kids where going to be short statured and I just needed to learn to

except it. If this was the fate of my kids and my own health I would not except

it! My son was becoming more and more ADHD he cried with bone pain every night.

I later learned that children with AUTISM do have " starving brains! " .....I

prayed for an answer and I got one.

A message that has been translated into seven languages, has sold over a million

copies, and has helped thousands just like my family. As a family we went on a

healing crusade. We learned how to heal my family. The book: " Breaking The

Vicious Cycle " had the answers. Elaine G's book amazingly answered all my

questions.....it spoke to every single problem happening in my home. EVEN our

adopted daughter who had food intolerances and Hyperekplexia! Meaning that SCD

has helped all five of us!

One year of fanatical SCD and Four Celiacs in one house and on allergy kid are

now going into true remission thanks to Elaine G, Dr Haas and SCDiet! They are

now healing...and definitely not going to be short statured celiacs! Slowly the

message is getting out. I am one of the messengers. The CSA at this moment

thinks that my family is a " rare bird " ....maybe.....but I have ironically helped

many Celiacs with BTVC this last year. I have wrote many articles and many

doctors have seen a miracle occur in my home...they now suggest SCD to

others......the message is getting out. I think some are now realizing the true

problem is not just the gluten and casein but the darn starch and refined

complex sugars. Please read the " Celiac Chapter " again in BTVC book if you need

to learn more about this.

I am glad that Elaine did not think my family was unique either. She saved us!

My kids are growing normal now and recovering from their neurological deficits.

No seizures for months. My daughters last delirium occurred two months into the

SCDdiet. She had been diagnosed with moderately severe autism and seizure

disorder. Most would never know that she was ever that autistic. A true

butterfly has emerged from it's cocoon! My husband and I have never felt

healthier. Even my mental deficits are much, much better.

Elaine pitied us Celiacs who where still sick on the GF diet convinced that it

is that tiny trace of gluten that keeps us sick.....according to Lucy R

(Elaine's friend at Lucy's Kitchen) Elaine called us " mad celiac detectives " !

That is exactly what we had become...and worse...very Hopeless and very very

sick. Spread the word you can help others with the SCD message. My family has.

So many Silly yaks and autistics no longer in pain thanks to this GF and GFCF

myth being broken!

So Carol the answer to your question is yes....To the best of my knowledge,

after reading much of Dr. Green's work, he does advocate the GF diet. In

short the GFdiet is a " death sentence " of pain and suffering for so many of us!

You " go girl " ...wow seven years of SCD! Thank you for all that you have done

helping my family eat a " fanatical " SCD. What a healing journey!
