What is the spray?

becky rogalski wrote: That was my concern

too after going to Dr. Neubrander's website and hearing a recording of him at a

Dan conference. We have been on the spray for 2 weeks. However I have been

having problems with the bottle - leaking and/or not squirting the full dose, so

i had to go back to the pharmacy to get another bottle which appears to be doing

the same. Anyway, I gave my son an 800mcg dose of folinic last night for the

first time. I agree with Meleah when you look at the physiology of it, the B12

and B6 NEED the folinic acid to work with to create the stuff that is needed to

feed other amino acids like methionine which feeds some " H " word I can't recall

right now which feeds into neurotransmitters etc. So I too am torn between what

Dr. Neubrander says versus the chemical needs of the B vitiamins, which is the

folinic acid. From listening to him and reading some on his site, I feel like

maybe he wants you to use if alone so

you can get a good feel for any reactions to it (good

or bad). If you add other things to it during that time, you don't know if what

you are seeing is a result of the B12 or from the added supplement. Right now I

have a multi-vitiamin, B6, calcium and a different probiotic my dan wants me to

try all waiting, because of Dr. Nuebrander's 5 week rule. I'm going with my gut

and the chemical necessity research out there and adding the folinic at 800mcg

for now and after a week or so I will probably bump it up to 1600mcg. I am using

my child as the guide! If anyone has any additional information about WHY Dr.

Neubrander would want you to wait I'd definately like to hear it. You can email

me off list if needed.

I know that Dr. Neubrander (DAN doc in NJ who established the MB12 protocol)

advises to do a 5 week trial of MB12, then add the folinic in after that. We

added 800 mg of folinic in after 5 weeks. Actually it's already in his vitamin

supplement which we also use. The folinic just added to the good effects of MB12

for our son.

our DAN did not tell us to expect it either. She told us that we might see

hyperactivity or irritability. For our son, it demonstrated itself by him having

trouble sleeping. He would be awake until 10PM...laying in his bed singing or

talking...He would wake up at 4:30 or 5AM just ready to go for the day. This is

certainly not typical for him since he is three years old, and typical sleeps

about 11 or 12 hours per night. This was his reaction even with taking 1600mgs.

of folinic acid...We get ours from Kirkman. She had us up the folinic to

2400mgs., and the wakefulness went away a couple of days later. In early

December we ran out of folinic acid before our new supply arrived. She had us

stop the B12 because he was having the wide awake thing after a few days with no

folinic acid. When the folinic arrived, she instructed us to give him his full

2400mgs. for a week before starting the

B12 again to make sure that his body was ready. I can't imagine a doctor

prescribing B12 without folinic because they work together so much. My advice

would be to start the folinic for a week or so first, and then add his B12.

You can get MB12 in either nasal spray(like inhaler) or in injection form(like

insulin shots).
