Guest guest
Do you have any pain meds to help you through this? If not and you need something for the pain, you would be best to go to the ER for hydration, pain & nausea meds. Try to keep to a clear liquid diet if possible. For me that was hard to do because my nausea used to be severe and I couldn't even keep a sip of water down. I used to have the pain so severely also, that it was impossible for me to stay at home and deal with it. I was admitted nearly every time, until towards the end of 2003 when my A & L levels stopped rising, then my " credibility " stopped rising also. Guest guest
, Is your doctor a gastroenterologist? Have you been given pancreas enzyme supplements to take when you eat? Are you being treated with pain medication? Sorry for all the questions, but the answers are important. If your answer is " no " to even one of the three questions, then no, that isn't the best treatment that there is! You should have been advised to follow a low fat diet, if and when you can eat. Enzyme supplements will help diminish the pain and help you to digest your food, when you DO eat. If you are in relentless pain, it's advisable to go to a clear liquid diet, until the pains go away. Treatment should include proper pain medication to be taken whenever you have discomfort. It is very, very important to keep yourself well hydrated, and you will feel better and have less pain if you do so. A mimimum amount of water would be anything less that 68 ounces, you should try to drink at least that much each day. If you can tolerate it, drink Slimfast, Ensure or Boost, these will help supplement your vitamins and minerals that you lose when you're not eating. Please write back and tell us a little more about yourself, , and all the circumstances that lead you to where you are today. We'll do what we can to help you.
