Guest guest
She may have a viral illness. I would try making some of the SCD Electrolyte Drink... from Elaine's website, www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info, in the " Knowledge Base " under " E " . Let her have just sips of that, if she is still vomiting. Chicken broth would also be a good choice. It *could* also be die-off.... but since you started the diet Feb. 11th, it seems you would be almost past that by now. Did you just re-start or change the foods you were giving her? Patti Some advice please!! Hello, I want to thank Carol F. for the information about my concern with cheese and nut flour. The bad news is that is not feeling well. She threw up during almost 2 hours last night. We could see all the food she had at dinner, but after that there was a lot of mucus, so I don't know if this could be part of the die-off since her stools are still very soft and smelly. I don't know what to do. I'm trying to be very carefull with the food I give her ar home and her teacher says that she is not eating anything different than the things she brings from home. It was very scarry to see her throwing up so much... She is not having any supplements because I don't know what I could give her without the Doctor's intervention. We plan to take her to a DAN! doctor but it's too expensive so we'll have to wait a wile for that. Please, any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you so much Ximena. Guest guest
Hi, The vomit stopped last night and she is better today. I gave her chicken broth for lunch and everything seems to be alright. She had that nut flour pizza with danish havarti cheese I told you about in a recent message. After that she seems more sensible to everything. Something I've noticed is that her cheeks are very VERY pink today. I don't know if that can be a sign of allergy or just part of last nigth reaction. Do you think she should be taking some supplements by now? I wouldn't know wich one. I'm still giving her 1/4 tsp of goat yogurt every day. Is that ok or should I give her a little bit more? She was not casein free before the diet. Thank you Patti for all your help. Beeing on this diet has been much easier thanks to your advice. Ximena Patti wrote: She may have a viral illness. Guest guest
I would not increase the yogurt until she's a few more days past this illness, or whatever it was. The very pink cheeks could be a slight sensitivity to a food. Did you use almond flour? Some kids respond to almonds with red cheeks.... from the natural salicylates in almonds. That's why we often recommend starting out with pecan flour instead. It's okay.... not going to hurt anything... unless you notice that she seems hyper or bothered in some other way. I wouldn't be in a huge rush to add supplements. Maybe in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, you could read up and research which ones you really want to start. Maybe just a simple multiple..... like the Freeda SCD multiple..... and maybe some magnesium. Take a look at the list on www.pecanbread.com under " Supplements " . Patti Re: Some advice please!! Guest guest
Thanks once again! I was giving her bread made with almond butter and I think she's not quite ready for that. I'm going to try the pecan flour or should I make the pecan butter? How? Another question, is it safe to give her mild cheddar cheese or havarti cheese?. In the book it says that they can be use freely and that's one of the few foods she loves but I don't know if it is safe right now. I need some more safe foods I can give her, specially to take to school. She seems to have problem with textures too and doesn't like at all the applesauce or the pearsauce. The only fruit she is eating now is bananas. So her food choices are very limited now. she eats mostly eggs, chicken, beef, carrots, green beans and bananas. That's why I was asking about the supplements but I think I should wait until she gets better. I'll look at the information about the supplements. Thanks Ximena Patti wrote: I would not increase the yogurt until she's a few more days past this illness, or whatever it was. The very pink cheeks could be a slight sensitivity to a food. Guest guest
Making the same recipe just substituting pecan butter for the almond flour is a good idea. It's simple to make. Just buy plain raw pecans and whir them in a food processor to get them as fine as you can..... add some mild flavored oil to get a nut butter consistancy. If you don't add oil, it will be like a dry meal. Use sunflower oil or grape seed oil (buy good quality health food store type.... expeller pressed)... those are healthy oils with very little flavor of their own. The cheddar or havarti should be fine, unless she is just not tolerating cheese just yet. Everyone is different. Make sure your cheese is naturally aged cheese.... 60 days or more of aging required. Try the butternut squash fries.... recipe on www.pecanbread.com . Don't worry.... she'll be okay for a few weeks without adding supplements. Patti Re: Some advice please!! Thanks once again!
