Guest guest
PICC lines and cental lines are very different. Central lines are usually only put in by surgents and they can only go into certain locations. A PICC line can be put in by a nurse if you have good veins or by interventional radiology if you have horrible veins. Both central and PICC lines can be used to give you TPN. When you leave the hospital if you need continued care they will sometimes leave a PICC line in you but a Central line must be removed. -a
Guest guest
a, The Central Line can be left in when going home, it is the PICC Line that has to be removed. I had a Central line in for 5 months after my PICC line infiltrated. just was a nuisance when my daughter would think it was a toy and grab hold of it. Started from hanging down to my cleavage area, to almost down my belly button lol..one doctor thought I had an infection starting with my Central Line and the incision, so they pulled it and then put in a port a cath
