Cathy,

I think it's reasonable to take it out for just a bit. That way you'll have a

clearer picture.

You know, as I've said before, the probiotics and/or yogurt can have been

starting to dissolve any oxalate crystals.... that *could* be why we see some

kids having this response to probiotics and/or yogurt. So... it may just be

that you need to get those other ducks in a row before he'll be able to tolerate

it. I would look at Green Pasture's CLO if I were you.

Advice on Probiotics

After removing the goats yogurt, my son's severe..unmanageable

behaviour is somewhat better...

But we still are having some difficulty with sillyness, and impulsive

behaviours etc. He gets very upset easily and acts out a lot.(it

still seems to be getting out of hand even after removing the yogurt.

All this behaviour stuff which we have been dealing with over the

years went away at the start of the diet...and started coming back in

november once we started the Probiotic and yogurt.

I don't think this is a dairy allergy...I don't think removing food

is the answer.

I am tracking down some cod liver oil and considering vit k now.

We are holding most of our Christmas dinners at home...that will make

it much easier with behaviour etc.

I know I shouldn't stop the probiotic capsule with him, but I am

wondering if I stopped it for a couple of days(over christmas) if it

would help take the edge off behav. etc...I really don't want him

flipping out with family here(everyone gets so angry with him)...but I

really think it will happen....Then they will be really impressed on

how well he is now with this new diet.

Would stopping the probiotic for a bit mess things up badly?

Thanks,

Cathy

We started that avenue, but we also found that so many of the food's

labeled as 'pro-biotic' were merely advertising hype. I'd be

interested to know how close 'home-made' live yoghourt is to pro-biotic.

Best wishes

The homemade 24 yogurt that we make with SCD has a very high

probiotic count. There is approximately 3 billion CFU's/mL or about

45 billion CFU's/mL in one teaspoon of yogurt. These numbers are far

higher than what you'd find in probiotic powders/capsules. Other

probiotic foods that are SCD legal are homemade nut milk yogurt,

homemade sauerkraut and Kimchi.

Commercial foods are often pasteurized or sterilized which would kill

the good bacteria. (Generally, the case in canned sauerkraut.)

I really liked your blog :)
