Hi...this post to blow off a little steam! About 10 days ago I went

to the Mayo Clinic in sdale and saw a pancreas specialist. I

liked my Doctor, he was upfront with me and my overall experience was

really good. However, my insurance wouldn't cover any of the test he

wanted to perform. I scheduled 4 days to be at Mayo, and was done by

the first afternoon, as my insurance wouldn't budge. I even talked

to my insurance at length the next morning, but still they wouldn't

budge. So I took it in stride, and I got to see sdale and

Phoenix. I came home and trying to get the tests Mayo ordered set up

here and in Denver. Up to this point, I was a little mad at my

insurance that they would cover a visit to Mayo, but no testing.

Yesterday, I got a letter in the mail from my insurance stating that

they would cover all of those specific tests my Doctor wanted AT

Mayo, but only thru December 31. If that isn't enough, the letter

was dated the day I called them to try to explain that I WAS in

sdale and I really wanted to get those test done BEFORE I flew

back home, but I was even willing to stay several days longer if I

needed to to get these test done. So now I am MAD, and I have to

decide whether to go ahead and get these tests scheduled here (and

then I wonder if my insurance will cover them here now that they

agreed to Mayo's testing)or fly back out to Mayo and get them done.

Then the question becomes, how in the world do they expect me to get

these tests done before December 31??? I am so mad at my insurance I

could just scream! I think they should fly me back out there at

THEIR expense since they told me on the phone they wouldn't cover a

thing. I honestly think that they really didn't do any favors

sending that letter, as I, and my whole family, are a lot madder

about it now... we just thought they wouldn't cover anything out of

network, now they have just added " fuel to the fire " . Aggghhh!

Thanks for letting me vent...I know I am not the only one out here

with insurance hassles...this one just really rattled my cage. I am

having an MRI/MRCP of my pancreas tomorrow...really hope I can at

least send that to Mayo to have a reading on it.

Thanks again for letting me vent.

Hugs,

Suzi B.
