Guest guest
Oh, no! How frustrating. I honestly don't know.... I have done that, but fortunately, discovered it after it had only sat on the counter for about TWO hours. I imagine the good live bacteria would *somewhat* protect it from spoiling.... but I honestly just don't know what the limits are for how long it can sit out, unrefridgerated. In this case, I would just have to repeat the old adage... when in doubt, throw it out. Sorry. I am so paranoid about forgetting yogurt.... either forgetting to plug it in in the first place, leaving it plugged in too long, or doing what you did... that I am well-known in our household for placing numerous Post-It notes all over the kitchen, on the bathroom mirror, etc... to remind me: " DON'T FORGET THE YOGURT!!!! " I also once had " YOGURT 9 PM " written on the palm of my hand, determined not to forget when my yogurt was slated to be done.... but, must have been too sleepy to remember to look at my hand.... forgot it anyway, sat bolt upright in bed at midnight and then ran down to take it out of the maker and put it in the fridge. Yogurt paranoia.... very common around here! Patti 1st Batch Goat Yogurt......Forgot and left on counter!!! Ugh, I don't know how I did it, but after the yogurt sat in the progurt maker for 24hrs, I turned it off and unplugged it. I then got side- tracked and just left it on the counter ALL night (not heated)! Is it ruined now????? Ugh!!!! I am so mad!!!!

If you haven't thrown it out yet, it would probably be okay for baking/cooking with - a custard or cheesecake etc.. The good bacteria should keep it okay for that time period, especially if you have the yogurt covered.
