Guest guest
, I hope you are feeling well today. How's your son doing? It's been a few years for me, but I remember when one of mine were sick they need more attention and compassion. He's eight today, tomorrow he'll be sixteen. It goes by quick. I'm glad to hear your situation is going pretty well. All of the hoops you have to jump through can get a little frustrating though, can't it? It only took four months for mine to go through this last time, but I had to stay in contact with the case worker and find out what reports she needed, then call who ever was responsible for getting those together and try to push them a little. It finally paid off though. You mentioned something that has been bothering me for a while. Your lack of memory and concentration. When I was very sick I blamed it on the pain and all of the drugs and pain meds, but I am much better than I was even six months ago and none of that has improved. I wonder if it is like the rest of your muscles and things. use it or lose it? I'm not on as much pain meds as I used to be. Or maybe I'm just going brain dead.LOL If you have any ideas I sure would like to hear them. I'm sure you are busy with the little one so I'll get off for now. Write me when you get time. I'm so behind on my email, it's pathetic, not to mention that it's the weekend, my 8 yr old son has the flu and I usually like to stay off of the computer when they're home for obvious reasons!! But, I saw this and wanted to reply.... I, like Weston, am a federal government employee (last time I actually went IN to work though was this past May.) So, I'm able to apply for the federal employee's government disability retirement. They require you though to apply for SSDI and in fact, I can't submit my application until I can show them that I have applied for SSDI. I HAVE had my initial interview with SSDI (I was able to have a phone interview...which is nice when you're not feeling up to getting in the car and going to their office!) However, what's slowing up process at the moment is that I have somehow misplaced my birth certificate (go figure..I have all of my kid's birth certificates and my husband's and I used to have them all in one place but somehow, some way, mine has been misplaced.) Sooooooo, I have had to file online for a certified copy, but since 9/11, you have to basically PROVE to them that you are who you say you are...soooo, had to print out this form, have my signature notarized (which I was able to do for free at my bank), and since I don't have the luxury of using the fax machine at work like I used to (!), I had to go to our local market, pay to have it faxed and hope to GOD that they would be able to SEE the notary 's seal as it quite clearly stated that if the notary's seal wasn't visible that it would not be acceptable!! Whew!! Anyway, that part is now done and I paid extra to have it FEDEXED/signature required so I'll have to be sure to be home this week. Anyway...once that is received, I take the original of mine and my 8 yr old son's...send it to my local SS office and they send me back something that states, that yes, I have applied. That is all that is required then for my fed gov't dis. retirement appplication process other than all of my doctor's statements, my boss's statement/signature, my second level supervisor's statement/signature, and of course, the doctor records, and I'm going to also include a letter from me basically stating what you have shown them here...that I'm tying up a government billet (slot) that would be better filled with someone that is actually capable of performing the job (I was a financial analyst.) They were actually gracious enough to try and allow me to work from home back in June. That ended in September as far as the papers from them were concerned. However, I was only able to perform the job for about 2 wks before I began to see that even from home I was not able to keep up with the tasking I would have been expected to do had I been capable of performing the job like I was before getting sick. Anyway, probably FAR MORE than you wanted to know...but I did want to thank your for the idea of including things like that. I kept a journal religiously from about the middle of June until the end of August (when the sphincterotomies were done) and for some reason, after that I seemed to get sicker than was previously and just didn't keep up with my journal. However, I will be able to use alot of it as to why when my job tried to accommodate me with working from home that it just didn't work out. I simply was in either too much pain, had been awake all night and therefore slept for most of the day, and/or had lost the ability to concentrate, had memory loss and basically NO mental acuity for trying to manage my former job which was dealing with a 10 million dollar budget providing status reports to my boss (I was on staff to our division head with bi-wkly meetings), providing information relative to the expenditure or non- expenditure of funding. I don't know how familiar you or anyone here (other than W.) are with the convoluted way that government budgets are set up...but believe me, they are set up in such a way that every penny has to be accounted for and money is divided up by certain programs within that same budget. So, it isn't just one budget you are dealing with...it is about 20 budgets within your allocated budget. Anyway, like I said..I'm just rambling now I guess...so I'll get offa her for now. The main reason I wrote was just to thank you and as usual I've written an entire dissertation!! )) Thanks for reading if you got this far!! Hope you're feeling well today...I'm not too bad. It actually snowed here in New England I (RI)!! Early in the season for that...and it kind of served as a reminder of how long it really has been that I have been out of work. The summer just flew... Well, bye for now and thanks!! good as far as mortality and fair as far as > morbidity. Does anyone know what morbidity means? > > Anyway, what do you guys make of this? Please let me know ok??? > The only doc that seems to be of any help to me lately is the new > pain doc I went to...not a very good bedside manner but a pretty > good doc so far anyway. > Thanks so much for any and all replies! > > > > > > > > > > >
