Guest guest
Hi everyone. My 4 1/2 month old son Peyton is going for his head scan to get his band ordered tomorrow. I know I am more nervous about this process than what he will ever notice. Hopefully you can answer or give input on what you have been through with your child. When we met with our cranial tech I asked how long he might have to wear the band. She stated that he is severe and they won't know until he outgrows the band itself. How many of you had to go into a second band??? We are hoping since he is young enough, he will only have to have the one. Also, how many of you are taking your child for the physical therapy to help with the stretching and strengthening?? Do you go once or multiple times a week? Thanks in advance for your responses. Just trying to stay one step ahead and feel like I am understanding this whole process.
Guest guest
We are going to PT. We won't get our band until 7/27, but we will continue PT into next year. We also start OT (Occupational Therapy) next month. (Personal side note: Mikey has a sensory disorder, and his head and face are two of his affected areas, so I hope the band doesn't interfere with our therapy.) Guest guest
Hi....my daughter started wearing her Doc Band at 4.75 months. We were told at our initial eval at 4.25 months that her plagio was severe, and she would most likely need 2 bands. She outgrew her first band at 7 weeks, and we're now going through the process of getting her second band. We didn't know to do any stretches with our daughter until we had her evaluated at CT. We were also referred to a physical therapist a few weeks after receiving the band, but after 2 PT sessions 3 weeks apart, the therapist released us and told us we didn't need to do any stretches anymore. So the stretches at home really helped our daughter. What also seemed to help was that she started rolling around more. Good luck with everything. It has all been much easier than I was anticipating in the beginning....and so worth it!
Guest guest
My son is being fitted for his Hanger band next Wed. We go to Hanger is Greenville, NC. The orthotist, , told me Trevor would probably be in his band for 4 months and if he outgrew it, he would make him another band at no additional cost. What company are you using? It seems like alot of the DOCband babies have to have 2 bands. Good Luck. My 4 1/2 month old had his scan today. He will get his band next Wednesday. Our tech said he would outgrow his band in 6-10 weeks. She said there is a good chance he will need a second one. He was also categorized as severe. We are hoping/praying he will only need one. I have no idea how we will aford a second one, but if he really needs it we will find a way. We have been doing stretches at home since he was 2 months per pediatricians instructions. We have a physical therapy eval on the 20. I really wish we had started PT a long time ago. The stretches at home have really helped though. Good luck to you. Hoping both our little ones adjust well to the band and have good quick correction.kelly>> Hi everyone.
