Guest guest
Hi-we're at day#79 for my three children on SCD. My eldest child has what seems to me to be very strong smelling urine, a dark yellow color. I believe he has sufficient fluid intake (30+oz/day for a 42 lb. 7 yr. old boy), this amount does not include clear broth which I give 4-5 oz almost daily. He doesn't get much physical activity, although I bet he burns up lots of calories with stims! Am I not giving enough fluids? We are barely stage 3. The only supplements are Kirkman's acidoph. (legal) and cod liver oil (legal). We stopped vitamins over a week ago due to adverse reactions within days of introducing them. Also-there is a film of tiny " bubble-like looking things " floating above urine. If I swish them with a stick, they submerge and float back up. I grew up as the only girl with five brothers so I guess I know what pee and bubbles looks like! But I've never seen this before. Does anyone have suggestions, ideas? Things haven't gone so well over here since the reaction to vitamins, and all three kids, especially the two older ones were starting to show signs of healing. I wish I hadn't messed things up. My thanks to each of you- those who so generously give of your time and knowledge to help us newbies, those who offer support and much needed encouragement and those who ask questions!-May God help us all-
Guest guest
I'm forwarding this to a friend of mine who is a nurse, and I know will see it tonight. If no one else has an answer before she sends me one, I'll tell you what she thinks. The strong smeel and dark color lead me to believe that he needs more fluids, but the bubble thing concerns me a tiny bit. Meleah urine questions Hi-we're at day#79 for my three children on SCD. Guest guest
Hi , I was so glad to see you write this--even though I'm sure you weren't glad to write it. Our youngest (just turned 7) has seemed to have this ever since he was potty trained (at 4)--I didn't remember it from our other boys, but thought (for months?) that it was the boy bubble thing--but, finally asked my husband and he said it was not normal. I've mentioned it to the dr. a couple of times and she sent him for a urine test for infection once, but it was negative. The next time I brought it up she said maybe they could send it out to be looked at under a microscope, but she didn't do it and I forgot. After our last appt.in Nov. he started taking cod liver oil and an Assyra remedy. The urine turned clear! Unfortunately, the weird bubbles have returned lately, but not as " big " or numerous. He is bad at flushing--so at least I get to see what's going on! If you find out any answers please let me know.
