Guest guest
I am making an educated quess to answer your question concering why TP / ICTs are not being offered.... And it is because , I think, that it is a relatively new procedure..and is mainly being used to treat diabetes (using cadaver islet cells) and that is still under study....and that chronic pancreatitis is the " poor cousin " in that these are not the type of patients that they want to recruit to clinical trials for all sorts of reasons......also, not many surgeons do this and you know how hard it is to get the medical profession to learn something new and see the benefits of different applications........ I think though that this will be a good option in the future for people with chronic pancreatitis as long as no weird outcomes are reported by the diabetes group and the few CP patients that have had this done......the journals seem to be cautiously optimistic that this is a good procedure.
