Guest guest
It's great that Piper's weight is up a bit-every little bit counts! I hope that she doesn't have to go in the hospital but if she does you make sure they do all those peak and troughs! It's very important!!! Once it is good, going home on IV's is a lot easier than staying in the hospital. Clinic appt Well, Piper went for clinic today. Her weight was up a little, she is in the 25th percentile for weight, and the 10th percentile for height. They repeated her throat culture and drew a lot of labs. If she does culture PA again, she will be admitted for 2 weeks IV tobramyacin. He said that they will put in a picc line, so that maybe we could go home after a couple of days and finish out the IV meds at home. I already told him that IF all this happens, I want her peak and trough levels checked EVERY 48 hours, just a precaution. I know that means that Piper will have to be stuck every other day, but I think that is a small price to pay compared to what could happen if they weren't checked frequently. Anyway, just thought that I would pass this on, since no one else can understand what this stuff means : ) Katy Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 18 months w/CF
Guest guest
Dear Katy, I am glad they are doing such a through job on checking all out. I know it isn't fun for that sweet Piper, but as you said, it is a small price to pay to be extra careful but get better & keep those ole bugs away. I agree on those checks on peaks & trough levels. Your a smart good mommy there gal!! best wishes, lots of great vibes coming to you & yours.!! LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBev Clinic appt Well, Piper went for clinic today. Guest guest
Katy, Piper is 25th percentile for weight. That is GREAT!! I would love for Zach to weight that much. Zach has a bronch on the 21st. If he cultures PA again it will be club med for him too. When you say you will have her peak and trough levels checked every 48 hours - do you mean the entire 14 days or just until they are sure the levels are right? After Savannah's experience, I think every other day for the whole 14 days seems reasonable. Sara > Well, Piper went for clinic today. Guest guest
Dear Katy, Hopefully Piper won't need the IV's but yes do have them check peaks and troughs. also have them keep an eye on her BUN and Creatinine and electrolytes. Can't be too careful as we have seen with Savannah and I also found out the hard way. My didn't get as sick as Savannah but no one wants to spend ANY time in the PICU or get kidney damage. A hearing test after the IV's is also a good idea. love, M
Guest guest
Sara, It will be for the entire 14 days of treatment and for a few days after, since it does stay in your system for a while even after it is stopped. I know it will be an inconvenience, but I really don't care, Piper's health is more important!!! We are so excited about her weight, it has taken us a long time to get to where we are now. Hopefully it will keep going up!!! Katy mom to Austin 4 no CF & PIper 18 months w/CF dwson2 wrote: Katy, Piper is 25th percentile for weight. That is GREAT!!
