Guest guest
How to we deal with Drs. ???? Ok here is Don's story about Drs. When he first was diagnosed with RP our world came a part. And that is when I learnt how Bad some of the Drs, really are. So I realized it was up to me to find help for Don's Problem. The Dr. here in Tulsa diagnosed Don with RP but do to the fact by the time I lost all faith in Drs. I made Don go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Min.There we learnt he should have a team of Drs. for this disease and also have base lines done. So when we got back I started looking for all does Drs. So I start calling Drs. and always ask first "Do you know anything about RP " if the answer was yes I made a appointment with him/her and interviewed them before I would let Don go there. Well I told them what I was looking for in there service and I also told them right off the bat the where not only dealing with Don but with me also. After all we was the one that was paying there salary. So I ask them could the deal with that. After the interview I either told them to go back to school or Ok I would bring Don in. Now Don has some pretty good Drs. His Primary did not know much about RP but was willing to learn all about it. Yes I have giving them all the information from the internet and this group so the could learn. When I did send them Information I also would check back with them later on and see if the really have read it or not. Not only that the now have gone to all the Drs. sides on the internet so the know how to deal with RP. It took me a while with Don's rheumy . Yes he needed to come off his high horse and work with us.He is getting better because I am just to stoporn to give in. He hates it that I know now just as much about RP as he does. But slowly he is seeing my side off this. So make sure when you do get a new Dr. does he listing to your Problem or is he just there for the money ?? How easy is he/she to get a hold of in case of emergencies?? Does he/she return your calls ?? Is he willing to learn more about RP ?? Is it Ok to get 2nd opinion ?? Can he/she work also with all your other Drs. you will need ??? I know it is very hard to find good Drs. but hang in there. Um so more you learn about RP the better you can find a good Dr. And this group sure will help you learn it.Just remember you are PAYING there salary and therefore you make them listing to you. If not find the next Dr. till you get the right team. I hope this will help you too, Heidi DISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY.
