Guest guest
Chrissy, You don't even have to go to the ton Social Security offices (where you will have to pick a number and stand or sit in line for 30 minutes to an hour or more just to speak to someone).....you can download all the applications and instructions, along with any other information you may need right on their website. You can also even apply online, if you chose to do so. Go to their website: http://www.ssa.gov/disability/ There is also excellent information on our PAI home page that tells you all about Social Security Disability and how it works. That url is: http://www.pancassociation.org You may, or may not remember, I initially applied to the SSA in May of 2003. I was denied on my first request, appealed, and am now awaiting my court date. My disability attorney, which I hired after my first turn down, just sent me a letter telling me that my claim for benefits is currently pending at the Office of Hearing and Appeals. The claim is in the master docket section and it could still be a couple more months before a Judge is assigned to my case. This appeal has been pending now for ONE YEAR.....so don't expect things to move too quickly! It's best that you get things started as soon as you can, because the wait in SC seems to be a long one....sigh. Let me know if you need any help with any of the forms or have any other questions.
