Guest guest
Hi , Although no MD has ever officially said so,my CP<I would suspect is caused by drinking.I'm 49 and was a person that drank about every day-be it a little or a lot.I quit last December when I finally figured out that booze was the cause of my problems.I still have acute attacks from eating, stress, etc. cuz the panc is so shot.I take 8 Pancrease MT-4 with meals and 4 with snacks.I'm on Demerol 50mg for pain,Zoloft 50 mg a day,BP meds,Nexium 40mg a day, which I reccommend for stomach acid-it's time release. I've lost 45 lbs since April but have maintained my current 143 lbs.for a month.I am 6'2 " tall also so I'm very thin.I eat very little fat, drink vitamin water and Slim Fast for the vitamins and minerals cuz it's low fat unlike Ensure.I'm seeing a cardiologist for heart problems such as fluttering, slight pain and shortness of breath.I was recently denied my first try for SSDI and applied for reconsideration. The US senator from my state is helping me. I also have Hep-C which doesn't help my CP any.My labs are always all whackedout.I don't think docs know what to do with me.I also have a birth defect in my left kidney which I need surgery for but they don't want to open me up.I also deal with nasty arthritis. Sorry this drags on but I've been lurking here and post only occasionally. If you like to talk-email me anytime-sergeantwood@... former Marines out there with CP? Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. I am 37 years old and was diagnosed with CP caused by alcohol. THe only thing is that I didn't drink but socially at the time I was diagnosed. For a time I worked a job that I am not to proud of but it put food on the table for my young kids and paid my rent and bills. Anyway to do that job I first had to get a little drunk to do it. Before long I was drinking a fifth of vodka a day 4 days a week. I worked four days a week. I did this for 3years and then quit the job. I think there was like 3 years between quiting that job before I was actually diagnosed. I couldn't believe the doctors so I decided I think it was a year later to go out with friends and drink. It felt so good to have a good drink in my hand and do a few shots. A hour or so later I went into a pancreatitits attack. I ran to the bathroom throwing up and sweating profusely. I was in so much pain. I actually thought I was dying. I had a follow-up appt. with my doc and told him about what happened and he basicly told me that if I do it again I could possibly die. It hit me like a rock. I couldn't believe it. My kids now are 17 and 14 and they are my life. I know the CP in progressing but I just have to take it day by day. I am up for hopefully my last stent change on 10/29/04. I have had one every month since July. My medical bills are ungodly. Everyone wants their money now. I would love to hear more of your story. I am 37 and have drank quite heavily since my early twenties. All of my other organs are relatively unscathed, but I don't have much of a pancreas left. _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
