Guest guest
My daughter was a big baby, and at 5 mo got her helmet. At that time I also switched her from an infant carrier to a Britax Marathon convertible car seat. She was much happier in the marathon. She used to cry in the car, and I didn't realize it was the car seat. She was in a starband by then, so I can't recommend the carseat based on " softness " . However one thing to do is put a rolled up blanket behind one shoulder so his head will tend to rest on the side you want. With brachy that can mean changing side each time you're in the care (to keep him off the back of his head), but since he also has plagio you want to keep him off the prominent side. It won't help 100%, but should help to make leaning on the desired side more likely. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > My 8 month old son has torticollis, plagiocephaly and brachiocephaly. I've known about these diagnoses for the last month. His first primary care physician was not concerned about any of his issues...even when he had pyloric stenosis, she kept dismissing the symptoms I was explaining. One nurse said it looked possibly like his skull bones may have prematurely fused, overlapped. He's had an xray done, couldn't see anything...needs CT scan. This is difficult to get done because of his other health concerns. > > He has acid reflux, and a narrowed esophagus, and laryngomalacia (floppy cartillage around epiglotis). One doctor recommended a helmet, but when I took him to cranial tech he measured +1.8. Kaiser covers at +2.0, so I don't know if we'll be able to do this for him. > > We're doing PT for the torticollis. He has outgrown his initial car seat. He weighs 24 pounds. He is in the car for about 2 hours each day. I'd like to have him in a car seat that is best for his head shape issues...possibly super soft. I've been to several stores and wasn't happy with any of those I looked at. Does any one have any suggestions? Also-if anyone has any experience or advice about any of the other concerns we have about his health... I'd appreciate hearing your perspective!!! > > Thanks! >
