Guest guest
Hi , Sorry for the delay. I saw your post a couple days ago but every time I left the computer, I'd forget to look up mullein in one of my herb reference books. Then, when I finally remembered, it took me quite a while of scrolling to go back to find your post. Anyway, I haven't found anything (so far) that says you can't take this during pregnancy, but that doesn't mean you can't, I guess. Acuri-Ware knows more about pregnancy-herb stuff than I, and another mom on this list who is studying to be a midwife (I'm sorry, I can't remember her name!) also may know. Or, you might do a web search using other names. I *think* mullein is also lungwort, which I once read that cattle instinctively use for respiratory ailments. Heinerman (who has authored many books on the use of natural remedies, including herbs, seeds, nuts, berries, fruits, vegetables and their juices, etc.) praises mullein for its asthma-curative properties and the ability to bring up vile mucus. Good luck on the amnio! Kim > Kim, > what do you know about Mullein? My MIL looked it up in her " herb book " because she was needing something to take with high blood pressure and most OTC stuff is contraindicated. She took it and it made her thick green mucus " like water " and clear within 2 days. I caught her chest infection and want to get rid of it quick so I don't infect . Guest guest
Hi Kim, Thanks for getting back to me. I will try to look up lungwort too. It seems like I am pretty much past this infection (And didn't get it! YAY) but for a few night coughs. I will look into it more though just in case I get something else. I think the author you mentioned id the one that wrote one of my MIL's " herb books " She has a few, but I am sure that I recognize the name......... Everywhere I find something about mullein, it either says absolutely nothing about pregnancy or it just says that you should consult a doc whenever you take any herbal supplements. I might just break down and ask the OB/GYN but they usually do not know much about herbs......... Thanks mom of 5 with CF and one on the way Re: KIM, MULLEIN? Hi , Sorry for the delay. Guest guest
, I have an herb-prescription interaction book and it didn't even mention mullein, so that's when I started looking on the internet for mullein by other names. Check out http://www.botanical.com for a really complete listing of other names. I think that's where I saw a reference to lungwort. Also keep in mind that even though it's called mullein, there may be certain genuses (genii???) of the plant, and each plant in that species may have different properties. That's why it's important to know the greek and latin (species and genus) names (for example, the tea tree oil you want is Melaleuka alternifolia, etc.) Bell is about to ring... time to get the kiddos in from the snow! Guest guest
, http://goodthings4u.com/mullein.shtml http://www.herbalgram.org/iherb/expandedcommissione/he067.asp#Contraindications http://www.thebearbyte.com/BearPlants/Annualsprt2.htm if you scroll down to mullein, it gives alternate names and lungwort is one of them. Hope this helps. Jill Re: KIM, MULLEIN? Hi , Sorry for the delay.
