Gio,

You wrote, " ...he can't see me...because he ran out of Prescription pads. I

said well what do you expect me to do sit here in pain and suffer. She said I

guess so that is what your going to have to do. "

I am sorry to hear what you went through. Of course it is a violation of the

pain management regulations of JACHO. I encourage you to do something about it

and not just let it go. The PAI will support you, but complaint has to be

filed by the person involved. I don't want you to think the rest of this post is

directed only to you, as it is not. It is directed to anyone who is dealing

with a chronic illness and dependent on the medical community.

The PAI wants to encourage everyone to feel they have a place to vent, so

please do so. But, until someone decides they have had enough, the PAI might as

well be nothing more than an elaborated message board.

Formal complaints need to be made to all powers that be:

American Medical Association,

Medicare,

State Medical Association,

Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals,

Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc.

State Nurses Association

And any other licensing body that covers the person who has violated the

national pain management standards, as well as the proper procedure for

terminating the relationship with a patient. They cannot simply call you and

say, " The

doctor doesn't want to see you anymore. " They can, but it is not legally

allowed.

We can no longer allow them to intimidate patients, or there will be no

change.

I send this information out to people on a regular basis, but when I follow up

, only 1/10 people (if that good) have filed a complaint. I don't know what

the hesitation is. There is no way that anything is going to change if we are

not willing to take action and make our voice be heard.

Having a doctor database is a good thing, but we need to get involved on a

legislative and licensing level so people who do not want to treat patients with

chronic pain won't have a license to do so.

I will retrieve all the contact data from my other computer and get it here

in an easily located place. It isn't on my laptop. In the meantime, go check out

the files under Campaign Capital Hill; there are some interestig information

about new legislation.
