i get my glucometer, test strips, lancets, etc. everythree months through a mail

order company. I was getting test strips through my insurance mail order plan.

The cost was $35 for a three month supply. I probably could have gotten the

lancets through them, too, but I don't use all that many so I just bought them

myself. The glucometer was covered at 75% of the cost by my insurance. This

mail order company contacts your insurance, your doctor, and then negotiates

with your insurance to get everything you need with less out of pocket expenses

for you. I got a brand new meter - the accucheck - the one with the test strips

in the drum, way more test strips and lancets than I actually use. The

negotiated price for me is $5 every three months vs $35 every three months just

for the test strips through my insurance mail order plan! The name of the

company is CCS Medical Diabetic Supply of USA. Here's the link

http://www.ccsmed.com/english/default.asp. The phone number is 1-.

They were very nice. It did take about 20 minutes or so on the phone to give

them my info and doctor's name and phone number. They did all the rest. They

also have some other medical supplies such as respiratory supplies, ostomy

supplies, etc. This has been so convenient for me. I haven't had to file

anything and I get my supplies just like clockwork! I love the accucheck

monitor. I didn't think handling the strips was a big deal, but it is sure nice

to just pop the little drum in and the push the button and out pops the test

strip. It only requires a TINY bit of blood and it takes 8 seconds to get a

reading. The person you work with at CCS will help you decide which monitor is

best for you. Your doctor does have to give them a prescription and specify how

many times a day he wants you to check your blood sugar, as that will dictate

how many test strips you get for three months.

Hope this helps some of you.
